I am new to the ZX14 and the forum. Had it 3 days and loving every minute of it. Great bike, wish I had it while I was in Germany though. Had a SV650S (no mods) back then; great in the hills but got left behind when we hit triple digits on the autobahn. Anyway, the new ride is a 08 Special Edition, 14,500 miles on it. Anything I should look at right away? Here is a pic, if I can post it.

The cool thing about the ZX14 is it is ready to go the way it sits, stock.

A lot of us have put new exhaust systems and piggys on them, but if mine was any louder I'd put the stock exhaust back on it. Fortunately it isn't.

Lurk for a while, read the posts, especially in Accessories and Performance Upgrades sections.

You will read a lot about pulling flies, don't pull yours unless you just can't live another day with them in. Starting with 2008 ZX14, Kawk programmed the ECU to open the secondary butterflies sooner, and pulling the flies just doesn't do enough to be justified.

Welcome...take the time to master the new beast as is, then mod to whatever that next level is for you. I have an 09 SE and haven't do any mods yet and unless I plan to drag or track, I'm leaving as is for now. New exhaust maybe next year for weight savings/hp, not for loudness.

Hey I dont currently have a bike but I'm seriously looking at the 14. It will be my 1st bike Im torn between getting it brand new or used? Can any1 give me some pointers on getting a good used bike? and the reason I'm starting on such a big bike I'm 6'6 310....

I bought my 09 in 10 and saved $4000.

Welcome to the forum! I definitely think you'll have the time of your life on it. As for things to check, typical maintenance should dictate here and, of course, some common sense thrown in for good measure. Your owner's manual will specify when you should have what checked. Did the previous owner (PO) provide any kind of maintenance records for you?
