PCIII Maps
04/12/12 10:09 PM

I have looked around the internet and I cannot seem to find PCIII maps to download.

I have a 2009 zx14m, and my goal is to upgrade exhaust on the cheap. I got a used KR Tuned system, and replaced my 09 exhaust header with one from an 07. I picked up a PCIII so that I want to install once I find some maps that might work. I know the best thing is to take it to a shop to get a custom tune, but I'm trying to avoid that as it will cost as much to get that done as I've paid on all the upgrades so far. In fact, before I did that I'd probably just get the PCV and autotune.

Anyone know where I can find PCIII maps these days? Any suggestions for one to use with my setup would be even better!

So it turns out once you install the software, it has a built in database with maps to use... duh.

I know as is my system is running VERY rich. If anyone has a recommendation for a map to use with these mods I'd love to have it. Otherwise I guess I'll try out some at random from the database they have with the software.

Try a map for just a common slip on. Like a Yosh or Two Brothers etc. But,with mix and match components, you may end up taking it in for a custom map anyway.

Yeah. Is there some trick to recognizing a good map? Or is it basically just "this feels right..." ?

I know as is my system is running VERY rich.

That right there is 'feels right' that it is not so right... Keep installing who cares what pipe setup on the map. One is going to scream or be a certain mean 'feels so right, I like it.' There is your map. You won't sense or smell a rich set. It will be spunky, smooth, get up and go. That is the map you basically have to feel out.

Now see, if you grid that stumble with a drag over a few squares, stab a minus click, save, that richness might go away? That is one way. But if you had the AFR meter reading that move, you can refine that map in the visual, not hit and miss with the seat of the pants as you are doing now.

So I talked to Jeffo today... surprised no one mentioned him when I was asking for maps.

Quick question - Hub, are you Jeffo??? He sounds like I would expect you to sound after reading your posts here on the forums.

He's supposed to send me a custom map for the bike, and reading about him on forums he sure seems to get rave reviews. And for $50??? Let's say I've gambled more on less. He also made a lot of recommendations for other stuff, sprockets, oil, plugs, etc etc that all sounded pretty reasonable.

I'll keep you guys updated with the results.
