what year to buy
04/21/11 10:58 PM

Im looking to buy a used bike from 06-09 and was curious if there is a year i should look for or stay away from, and if so, why.. My budget is $8,000 but if i could spend less on the bike i would have more for mods. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the help,

Art

You'd be hard pressed to find a dud of any year. Do not let that slower throttle opening bother you if you buy a first year or second year. Those should be the cheapest, obviously.

Anything above the gum line is all but cleaning up what was/is any year happens to be flawless/bulletproof in the whole scheme of things being a few questionable of how those happened to blow up and others with the next number is sequence, HA happened to be just that.

Any bike is the bike with two buying points:

1. Low mileage at a fire sale price. Buy if only 2 fits the bill.
2. A bike that was never crashed is no bike at any price. Walk

I went with an 06 simply because it was MUCH cheaper for me to insure.

Yeah they're all great. No inherent problems with any that I have found so far. If your worried about spending money on exhausts I would go with an 06 07 if you can because if you decide to go with a slip on the 06/07 will not have the catalytic converter in the headers and be a better with the new S/O's. The ealier bikes also have a slightly different operation of the secondary butterflies which takes away from the low end which is smoothed out in 08 and later models, but with the right aftermarket parts this can easily be remedied.
