bar end mirrors
04/20/13 6:47 PM

Seems like a lot of you here have some pretty nice tricked out 14s so I'm asking for suggestions. As the picture shows I have the PMR push button for my air shifter which I had to move the grip towards the bar end to make room for the mount. This doesn't really leave any room for the bar end mirrors that clamp on to the exposed bar.

I put some really nice (my opinion) mirror eliminators on for aerodyamics and appearance.

This is the first time I've removed mirrors and it's quite the nerve wracking experience now on the road. So what I think I want or need is some that bolt on using the stock 8mm bar end bolt. I've heard but not tried it that removing the weights can induce some noticeable tingle to the bars so I'm leaning towards ones that have a weight as part of the mount. I have found these:

What else do you guys know about that I should check out?

Sure makes a nice change in appearance, hey? Amazing what it does, IMO.

I've heard but not tried it that removing the weights can induce some noticeable tingle to the bars so I'm leaning towards ones that have a weight as part of the mount.

Not that I can tell. I have aluminum bar ends on the 14 and they are way lighter than stock bar ends.

I have NO bar ends on my busa and notice no vibes at all. IMO, those are completely useless added weight. Nothing but a crash slider and still a lot heavier than need be.

I have found these:

Oberons are second to none in quality so I have been told but look at the price....OMG!!!!!!

I got CRGs for my 14 and I am very satisfied with the quality and the function. You really don't need two. One will work and it will work on either side if want to switch. Yes, I use two but if you really twist and look behind you as your main method of rear view, one is more than adequate with the wide view mirror.

The mirrors have a folding hinge so they are not out in the way when you work on the bike or park in a lot. It is nice to be able to fold the mirrors but that is not essential. Same goes for the ram ball adjustment. Nice, but not a must.

CRG offers a small bobbin adapter that will hold to your bare bar end by the bar end screw....then you can clamp to the adapter instead of the actual bar. I used bobbin adapters on my busa bar ends. I left the right one without the mirror because I think it looks cool.

Here's a shot of the other side where I have the mirror.

I mentioned CRG, right? Nice but what you are looking at on the busa is a Chinese copy. $16 for a pair and came with bar end bobbins. CRGs were about $80/piece. Boy did I get reamed. The Chinese mirrors work just as good and look better. Only complaint, they said the mirrors were anodized but they are painted. No complaints for how cheap they were.

Here's a shot of the CRG I have on the 14. NO dif. Same weight too....just a tiny bit lighter than the Chinese ones.

These Imolas also look nice. Come with whatever logo you want or no logo if you want.

I guess the gist of this reply is, you CAN use bar end mirrors even if you have no space on your bar for a clamp if you just get one of those nifty bobbins. ..or two if you like.

2cents I have had bar end mirrors on my other bike and liked them but they tend to get too wide in some applications. Parking, motorcycle cover and just walking around the bike. Whatever brand you buy ( and if I buy another set) they will be expensive but a very good quality that does not keep loosing up when it is least convenient. There are a bunch of knock-offs for cheap and buyer beware. I personally know PJ from this site and he is 100% customer service and sells quality products. The bar ends I had were pre-knowing PJ. Hope this helps!

I run CRG Arrow mirrors on all my bikes. My Duc had the same problem you're having, I got a set of rhinomoto bar end sliders, they have cut outs for the mirrors similiar to what is pictured above.
