Nothing wrong, but I was wondering how hard it normally is to lock up the rear brake on a stock '11.

I was doing some parking lot practice this morning, including some hard braking to get a better feel for the grabbers.
Assume for the moment that I know how to properly apply the brakes. Anyway, I was applying more rear brake on my stops, trying to figure out where the skid threshold is, and I wasn't getting there. Felt like I would really need to stand on it. Brake feel isn't too bad. Maybe I just need to bleed the rear brake, or maybe it is inherently hard to lock the rear on this bike. Running fairly new Pilot Powers at 42 psi.

I wouldn't loose any sleep over it. Both of my 14s have had a really lazy rear brake. You do have to stand on them to get the rear to lock. Even my brand new 2013, although it's improving a little with extra use.
I think Kawasaki use a less grippy brake compound in the rear to save us from ourselves. Just use it a bit more to make sure it's bedded-in and scuffed properly. You might get the feel to improve a little.

That rear brake locks up like nothing on the 14 r. It's not u its the set up. I do like to lock it up on an entrance but that's just my flavour for hot doGgin.

Ha! See, wolf likes to back her in, I do it with hard engine braking! Rear brake locks up easy on the R. I had to break it in with a little use, but no complaints at all about the brakes on this bike!

Topic section inputs.... "some basic things to get you started".It will feel different at speed...when the weight is moving...meaning...it will lock easier....or should I say...be MORE apparent at speed;)Try it rolling at highway speeds..firm application till lock...you'll see what I mean.Pull in clutch...apply brake...and pay attention;)!

I'll bleed and see, maybe adjust. When I would do quick stops on the Rex the rear skid was pretty predictable, especially with the forward weight transfer when loading up the front. Just need some better feel and predictability. Probably just needs to be maintained, beast did come with a few thousands miles, and maybe PO liked it soft.

Oh bugger! Looks like I need to be doing some more bedding-in and lock-ups myself.
Was maybe going from my previous ZX11 too. They had the same pads front and rear, except the rear was a different compound.

That's it, screw that rear brake, I ordered a sexy new rotor for the rear and some pads and I am going to tweak that rear so I can start using it!
