Aftermarket fairings
04/23/23 6:30 PM

I bought a salvaged 2008. Guy hit a deer. I went to look at the bike with a roll of duct tape, Taped everything up so it wouldn't fall apart on the highway took it for a scoot and at a buck-forty it had no vibration or other mechanical issues. I did a lot of research on fairing kits and found out ZXMT has a good reputation for making decent fairings. I paid $360 for a 22 piece of that includes everything. I figured I would do a write up with some pictures to maybe help someone who might want or need ZX14 aftermarket fairings because I didn't find a lot of 14 specific information.

The kit came with a decent amount of foil covered foam for heat shielding. I had most of the OEM foam which I peeled off the OEM parts and transferred to the new fairings.

I was fortunate to have 95% of the original parts because the aftermarket ones don't include any of grommets, speed nuts etc. The tabs for mounting look just like OEM I know some fairing brands just glue on the tabs but thats not the case with these. Overall these fairings are an absolute steal for $360. The plastic is pliable but sturdy. Everything lined up as it should. The paint is eh, seems like it will scratch pretty easily. They have unpainted for less as an option which probably is the way to go if it's in your budget but I didn't have the coin and honestly I didn't want to buy unpainted just to find out they're junk and then have to pay a bunch more to paint crap. That is not the case though these are a really great option if you need fairings.

Are they as good as OEM? Of course not but they fit without me having to drill, modify or make any kind of consessions. There's a few small gaps in a few spots that you wouldn't have with OEM but they're hardly noticeable nobody can eee them when you're doing 90mph anyway. I am very satisfied with these and don't feel like I settled for something that looks half ass. I will eventually powder coat the wheels, swingarm and frame but for this season I'm just going to enjoy my ride
