Have a question... By chance I found an 06 turbo bike for sale at a dealer just one city over from me.
I will try and get a pic or two off of the website so you can see it.

What i would like to know is if its a suicide purchase if they dont have a lot of details on it.
Dealers never seem to know much and that scenario with a turbo'd bike makes me nervous but damn i want one!!

Pro:
It's all there.
It still runs.
It looks well put together.
It's not like you have to do any work to it.

Con:
Start it up and a puff of oil comes out. Well, did it? And no, not warmed up, but when they open shop and roll it out cold overnight, now fire it off.
Who put it together and how much was mickey moused on once you take off the covers to find out?
It's old and not worth much that modded out.
The con is to think you have to pay for someone's mod and ruined the OE of first year, whereas the black might be the most sought after. We'll be long dead buy the time that thing is worth something down the road.
Unless you just have to have it, what was with the blower rendering of some kawi engine with a gear drive all factory issue as in... cash waiting.

Buy that and it's one more pulled pin it blows up under you you just had to have a worn out puffer. What is the compression ... if you can pull the plugs out? I just had to use some race gas and now the plugs are stuck. Ask me how I know? And who needs a turbo for plugs sticking. I'd pass not knowing the history or how it was ridden.

But still is concerning above and beyond the potential reward..
Mileage unknown until i find out and time since modded unknown as well..

There's a beautiful turbo bike in the for sale section on this forum.

I saw a beautiful turbo bike with 30 k invested but no price...
If funds were more on my side id see what i could do..
This bike i saw on the dealer site is 9900 .. Im guessing the one in here is 15-20?..
I never got a call back from the previous owner (they were going to try to contact him)
So.. For now.. Pass

Ok talked to the actual owner. The bike was done locally by American Turbo Power.
Swing arm and suspension all done by them as well. Owner is a 60 yr old guy who bought the project from the owner of the shop after the client became afraid of it. So its been tuned tweaked and has been running with the turbo for 5k miles. Dyno'd at 285 hp at the wheel.. Garret unit with integrated blow off.
May be able to pick it up for under 9k...

What do you guys think?..

I will probably rarely have it into boost.. I just love the idea of it and knowing its there waiting if the urge arises. It will be ridden a few days a week if i have my way.

Yeah .. I know... I say that now... I do truly want to own one and will want to commute on it...
Maybe it will be more fun than I am imagining on e I've felt it...

Am i still buying someone elses mistake or is the full history and local shop at reach something that makes this

I mostly would want to see it start cold as Hub described. And i wanted to talk to the owner of he shop who did the work and has had his turbo 14 for at least 6-7 years.. I remember the bike.. Just didnt know until today it was who it is. Small world.

Geez Paul if the bike is clean and it runs strong with no weird noises coming from within then go for it. You know the deal when you buy something used, there's no way of truly knowing the abuse or lack of abuse this thing has seen. The price certainly seems fair. Good luck with your decision, and don't be scared to take it for a ride before buying it.

Look under tank left side above throttle bodies. Should see a crank case vapor tube filter has been added,,,, If oil vapor reacts to throttle input = Blow By. Call if you want, important purchase. Remember once you ride Booooost No going back. Not talking 8hp, 10hp Gains any more. Boost is crack cocaine for Adults, hooked after first ride,,,,,, Sweeeeet.

I'm selling off my 2010 Turbo and using the doe to build the 2012 for 500 hp. If you need anything I'm sure I have it. Anyone need Marchesini wheels with Brand New ceramic bearings ?

We,ll Rick I am having that very same problem, developed in the last couple of weeks whilst giving it some when commuting to Silverstone race circuit where we had two meetings on following weekends one Blancpain and one British GT series.
I noticed my left boot/foot just with a bit of shine then on closer inspection realised it was oil........
Bugger, more investigation required.(I know what it is really)
check oil level ...still quite high, thought it was over full.
I noticed one morning when it was cool just a slight clack, clack when it started and then cleared very quickly....he
and yes the oil vapour coming from the breather .
I am going to borescope it next Friday and just check down the holes ....anyway do you have a set of pistons??

Yes I do.

What did compression test show ?

I haven't done it yet but I ve seen it before Im going to borescope it later this week and see what the damage is, might just compression test it too just as a final check......ill let you know

yes, engine has never been touched, All stock. Was going 9.5 to 1 then got playing with the 14R. To little time to ride them both. Insurance was canceled Friday so now I'm stripping it. Piston, Rods, Studs will all be up for sale soon.
