Need help!!Went out for a blast with wifey and some of her rubber heal melted on my stock cans. Just tried Goo Gone and nothing. What's best for this? I plan to upgrade the exhaust next year but need to cleanup the cans....

You can try warming the bike back up and hitting it with some WD40 and a microfiber rag. I've also been surprised by some of the stuff those Mr. Clean Magic Erasers will get off. Beyond that... rubbing compound and elbow grease.

Yeah, Careful what kind of rubbing compound(s) you might use. Some are coarser than others and they will leave a dull spot which will need to be polished out with a finer polishing compound.
Acetone will dissolve just about anything and i think it should be safe on bare metal. DO NOT USE ACETONE ON A HOT PIPE> About the lowest flashpoint of any commonly available solvent.

+1 on the razor blade. I use the blade for cleaning mirrors as well - on the bikes, cars and in the house. Take a razor blade, get the black crud off, come behind it with some Nevr-Dull which is a wadding cloth you peel off and like wax, then wait 5-10 minutes and come behind it with a cloth to clean the sheen off which results in a near-perfect shine. When I'm done washing the bike down, I take NevrDull to the exhaust pipes and it really looks sharp when done. tWe used this stuff on the ships when I was in the Navy to polish up all of the "bright work". Works terrific on bringing brass back to life also, FYI.

loadedmind, I used a lot of that neverdull when I was in the Marines. works great on brass, but, never use it on your GOOD brass. It is mildly abrasive and will leave scuffs/swirls on your buckle. Brass is a lot softer than chrome and stainless, so I will take your word for it that it wont dull the finish eventually.

Brasso is what my dad used on the perspect windows on the Gloster meteor in late fifties I know it's really great for very fine finish ! just a good old product thats still around, I've got the boilermakers at work using it for their electronic welding helmets clear lenses to get more life otta them and also for buffing any scratches on other things!!

I would have guessed a coat of WD would have prevented more corrosion than no WD. That's after one year??? That attic must be a fairly harsh environment. My steel bolts have minor pitting after 12 years but other steel stuff on my bike still looks new or almost new.

If you guys haven't tried this, its your lucky day.
I use this stuff to clean my headers stained by heat and grime. A little bit of elbow grease required but comes up perfectly every time.
Expensive and hard to get, but you don't have to use too much to get the job done and well worth the cost and effort.
