I have used it a few times when my wife & I have gone somewhere on the bike and haven't wanted to lug our lids around (e.g the cinema). It's a bit of a hassle taking the seat off to access the strap, but better than nothing.
My last two bikes have had Givi top boxes that fit two helmets easily. What a shame they look so unsporty...

I actually prefer this one to the 'regular' helmet holder on the other side... that one hangs too close to the exhaust for me... anyway... just insert the cable threw the metal loops on your helmet strap and then hook the cable to the little metal tab under the seat. Works like a champ.

I agree about concern over how close the helmet lock is to the stock cans... especially when they are hot.
The only issue I have with the cable is (apart from having to take the seat off) is the cable rubbing against the paint work on the tail. I'm not saying it will cause damage, but I think if it was used regularly it could result in some surface marks in the paint.

could probably slip a small fuel hose over it to keep it from rubbing!!!
Yep, that could work!

What I do is put the left passenger peg down, and position the helmet with the bottom against the frame, resting on the peg. It keeps it far enough from the can to avoid a heat problem.
