2012 with Black Street Meg
07/31/12 3:32 PM

Been a lurker here for a few months now, bought a 2012 zx14r back in May and already have 4600 miles on the bike. Just got my new Brock's Street Meg in last night and threw it on. This exhaust is perfect for me, pretty mellow at idle and lower RPMs but screams up top! Only had time for a few phone pics before work, and the bike is pretty dirty. I'll get some better pics later in the week.

Mods so far, lowered front and back, MRA double bubble windscreen, genmar risers, home depot fender eliminator, Flies out, and of course the Brock's pipe with PC5. Also, I added 8000K 35W HIDs, I put my stock highbeams on due to poor visibility at night. Next up is going to be powder-coat or paint the heelguards, and tint the turn signals and brake light.

What do you guys think? Be honest with me!

Looks very nice. Sweet offer on the powder coating. Would be interested in hearing more about your HD fender eliminator.

If you get those heelguards powdercoated, you might as well send in the pegs, passenger pegs, shifter and brake---or maybe send them in over the winter. I don't have a close up shot, but it Really topped of the looks of my old 14... I was so happy to get rid of the bare aluminum. They should come from the factory like this. I have already swapped over my zx12 heelguards so I can send these to get powdercoated. Now I just need to find someone locally because I can't go without my parts ...she's my only transportation.

BTW, my salesman let me pull a set of black passenger pegs of a new zx10 that was in the showroom.

06Pearl, where are you located?

Sorry to crash your thread, but that powdercoating would look bad ass with that blue.

Dragking, I live in Michigan.

I was thinking about powder coating all those items as well, but I can't live without my bike for a week!

They call it Candy Surf Blue, i'm not sure what the differences are if any...

I agree the heel guards stand out (not in a bad way though) you should get those to match the blue or if you can't, black will work too. I'm not sure if Brock's has exhaust plate that would match that blue but he does I think you should get them.

Where did you order the MRA screen from and how long did it take to get to your door? Thanks

I got the MRA screen from twistedthrottle, it was around $100, i ordered one and they told me it would be over a month wait. I noticed they had an open boxed one in smoke(originally wanted dark smoke) for $50 so i just canceled my other one and got that one to my door in less than 3 days in perfect shape. Kinda lucky on that one...

That's where I was looking thanks. Good choice by the way, you need to be able to see when you're doing a top speed run lol

Damn, every time I see these pics...I have to fight the urge to slap plastic and just pull the trigger. Ironic that this exhaust cost the same as my wife's plane ticket to come see me in Dubai.

Here is an update with some of my winter mods. Ended up getting some Sato rearsets instead of powder-coating the OEM parts. Powerbronze hugger, Soupy's lowering links, grip warmers, reflective rim tape, new tires, and a new exhaust hanger. Also plastidipped the emblems(still need to finish the tank emblem) and the turnsignal reflectors, I added LED turn signal bulbs to get it back to the original brightness. I got too bored over the winter! Already put 300 miles on her and it hasn't even gotten above 40* out...

Looking real good ! just curious, what rim tape did you use ? I have some plast dip in the garage, any tips on how to make the emblems come out nice ? I dipped my rear tire jack the part where it goes on the swingarm spools, and it came out kinda cruddy, dont want my emblems to do that ..

I used pro grip rim tape, can't really attest to it's durability yet but it matches the color really well. The emblems took a few attempts before i got it down, just gotta make sure you don't wait long between coats, the stuff dries super quick! I waited about 5 minutes between layers. Tape off the surrounding area to make the removal of access plastidip easier.

that bike looks HOT, Bugablue!

I recently cut 3/16" strips of 3M self adhering vinyl and made wheel stripes with it. It was very easy to use and if it is as durable as the vinyl stripes I have on my body panels, it will last at least a couple years.

Sharp bike!

What did you use to blackout your lights and what LEDs did you use?

Thanks Guys! I originally tried VHT nightshades on the OEM lenses, I didn't like what it did to the light output. So I removed the lenses off my OEM reflectors and painted the reflector with plastidip. Then I found smoked lenses off ebay for less than $30 and put them on the OEM reflectors, had to sand down and buff the molded text they had on them. The light output is the same if not better than the stock bulbs. My brake light is still tinted with VHT nightshades, not sure if i'm going to be changing that up or not.

These are the LEDs I used, I did have to dremel down one of the dimples to make them fit. I went with these because they were clear, there wasn't any white printed circuit board that would have been visible through the lense.

I'm waiting for the temperature to get up to around 50 or 60 degrees so i can put the plastidip on my tank emblems, I'm not sure how well that stuff will go on when it's cold out.

I'm not familiar with this process. How do you get the Plastidip to adhere only to the emblem and not the paint?
