which steering damper?
12/03/13 7:48 PM

Just ordered me up a Brocks kit for the 14. Comes with an alienhead pipe, pc5, heavy duty clutch springs and a lowering kit. should be here on Friday. perfect, the weather is gonna be nasty, i'll have a nice garage project installing all that stuff.... my question is, which damper should I get? I have to have one to do the Texas mile anyway, so what do yall think? There seems to be a lot of choices. Thanks for the help.

I have the Ohlins/Brocks damper. Install is a breeze, quality is great. The adjustment knob can be a bit of a pain in the arse on the fly while wearing gloves. I find myself adjusting it from time to time depending on speed and type of riding I'm doing. When your tearing it up a damper is great, when your driving slow not so much.

Ohlins forks,Ohlins shock,GPR steering damper, Brembo brake master cylinder/lever,Brembo clutch cylinder/lever,vortex rearsets, Two Bros carbon race series 4 into 1 exhaust,Dunlop Q3's,galfer ss brake/clutch lines, V1 radar detector, zumo 550 gps, auto com communication,PDM 60 power distribution module, zero gravity DB wind screen, vortex rear sprocket,EK zzz chain, Carpenter racing CCT, Romans flash, Annitori racing quickshifter.

I went with the Hyperpro RSC. Should be here in a couple weeks. My Brocks kit didn't come in Friday because of all the ice in Dallas. Will keep you posted.

I would suggest you PM Grn14 and ask him. He just installed a HyperPro active damper to his 14r.

I have just installed the hyperpro on my 13 model. Very easy to do.
I have noticed a tiny scratch on my tank from the pivot point when I do a full lock left turn.(which is very rare). I think that may be from after market carbon cover which may be a fraction higher than oem.
Not an issue just annoying and will only happen with a full lock turn.Tiny tiny scratch about .5mm. Hope that helps.

Jordan that hyper pro looks awsome. I have a scotts on my zx10 street/race bike and its paid for itself many times over.
Looking at something diffrent for the zx14. I like the rotary dampers a little beter cause they are a little easier to adjust while riding.

I know my 10R needs one period! But the 14R? Seems odd KHI didn't put one...
Are you guys experiencing issues under hard acceleration or coming down from wheelies?

Still new to the 14 and haven't even rode it yet...
My 10 will shake under acceleration and coming down from a wheelie so I know they work.. I replaced the holing with a matris Titanium unit..

Under hard acceleration on the 2-3 shift you will get head shake - nothing that will lead to a wobble, but it's there.
Touching down from a second gear wheelie above 160km/hr will produce some also - but depends on how soft you land. I like to pull them right to the rev limit in 2nd (and I'm ecu'd - so 500rpm past redline) and then set it down gently - grab third and ... bye - bye..
I'm thinking of getting one also - it will probably be one of my last mods though.
GOD I've gotta stop the bleeding already...
Sheesh - having 3 other ZX14R's in green, all with nice mods in the area, keeps us all bleeding at a steady rate.

You'd think we all had the last name Jones!

I use the Gpr V4. Works great. Real easy to adjust on the fly with gloves. Got a used one in the classifieds if your interested.
