Having on 08 14 with 87K miles i know the reliability of 1st Gens. I have a chance to buy a mint 12 with 30K miles. Since that was the 1st year of the Gen 2 were there any issues i should be concerned with?

I know you asked about 12 models . Mine is a 13 with 27k miles and five solid yrs or drag strips with 2019 and 2021 track MC Champ..also have done 1500 mile 25 hr trips . Only problem was clutch plate renewal , racing induced and Star shifter and clutch basket from 5 yrs of electronic shifts at 10500rpm shifts :)
EDITED.................
I think I found the reason the star shifter broke. Riding on the street , I do use the electric shifter and I have realized that occasionally my foot will be in hte way so shift arm only moves part way. I am pretty sure that means things on the inside are hitting stuff they should not be hitting .. In my opinion Kawasaki is really dang near bullet proof, the riders , however, often leave something to be desired :)

Only thing is how well was it broken in? Other than that, I've never seen a more trouble-free bike no matter the gen. Go for it. Less tampered with, the better. See any wiring mess, down the road maybe some nagging loose connection is all.
