So, because I'm trying to encourage the new riders on my Facebook group, MAD's MOTORCYCLES,
I signed up for a track day with some members. I haven't been on the track since 2007 when I
retired from racing after finishing 3rd overall in 250 Super bike.

Here's what I'm facing besides just being old and decrepit.
First time on Thunderhill West
First time on the 14
Bad left knee so I can't hang off on lefts at all
Luckily, most of the turns are lefts. Perfect
Thumb shifter which is going to make down shifting " interesting "

I don't think I'll be the slowest Novice ( my group) but I'll give them a run for the money.
I hope my 83,000 mile 06 holds up.

So wish us luck. Should be interesting.

Go git em while the gittn's good Mad! Don't get in over your head by the day's end, some of those 600s will start pushing it pretty hard. If they're too slow in the corners, blast by on the straightaway. If they're hanging with you, maybe give them a break and let them pass when the rules permit.

Go get em Mad. Like I've always said, 14 might not be the fastest out there but you'll be having the most fun!

NICE!!!! The one I went to this summer for the 2nd year I was on a ZX6R. I was passed a few times. That being said there was an R1 there...he never passed me........

Fans of Top Gear might recall an episode they reviewed some small, entirely non-sporty econobox. And they all agreed that it was tons of fun to drive on a trackB BECAUSE it was so incapable. IE it's limits were so low, it was easy to reach them. Whereas a super car it's really a lot of work to push to it's limits, and mostt people, even the Top Gear presenters don't even have the ability to do so.

While I wouldn't put 14s quite in the same category, I think it's capability far exceeds what most would expect out of (what's most typically thought of as) a "drag bike" but pushing 50% on a 14 would be a lot more fun than 30% on a lightweight supersport which is probably around where what most street riders are capable of.
