Bikes have been in my family since before I was born. Started at 5. went from a 50 to an 80, 80 to a 200, 200 to a 450, 450 to a 1000 when i was 17, and to a 1400 when i was 20. just depends on a persons experience. if someone hops on a bike and thinks "this things ginna kick my ass" then it will. if you hop on and have confidence and respect, then ur good to go. good luck

Well guys, havent been on in a while... and i'm not, not replying because im dead, haha. I've been riding the bike everyday ALOT and have 5,050 miles on it now. I rode it home to Texas from Georgia about a month ago 1100 miles like i said and I rode 800 miles the first day from Atlanta to Dallas and then 300 miles home the next morning, it felt like i was never going to get home and had to stop every 50 miles so stretch out the pain in my butt. I havent wrecked or dropped it or anything and havent done something stupid and scared myself like my 27 year old brother did with his Busa about a month after he got it, he was taking a turn to fast at about 100 mph and couldnt make it around the turn and left the road at about 70 and somehow rode it out. I personally wouldnt let my own kids get a sportbike at my age and i know for a fact i would be dead if i wasnt eased into riding from a slow bike to a Busa like i was, in fact most kids my age cant even drive a car safe enough to not wreck it doing something stupid.

Oh, I've seen them lean with the right rider. I think these bikes will do just about everything but you have to work up to equalling their potetial slowly. Seems like it could take years. Good thing it's so much fun practising.

I've done many long trips and you think a lot of ways to make your ride comfortable, after my long 1200 mile rides, I got a touring windscreen by zero gravity, a throttle rocker (http://www.throttlerocker.com), got my seat done by spencer in florida (I might get it redone by russel (http://www.day-long.com) and was thinking about raising the bars up a couple inches with risers but voted against it. Some of the things you force yourself to do on a new, fast, and heavy bike is always slowing down and being conservative around the sweepers or turns when the roads are unfamiliar. Otherwise, scanning the road, keeping adequate space for tactical emergencies and respecting the power of the bike, you'll be just fine.

just keep pushing in the direction ya want to go-she'll lean!

Good advice blue but it does take a lot of training to overcome that survival instinct urge in a panic situation which paradoxically can get you hurt....or worse.

I just wonder where this kids parents are, I won't even let my girls ride on the back of my bike.

^^Yeah, a sticky situation escaped from unscathed on a bike is a lot scarier than in a car. Good thing, it probably keeps us all a little more careful.

I gave my 6 year old a ride in the driveway sitting in front of me. Now she's talking about motorcycles. I'd love to start her on a mini bike. The battery powered cycles for kids are already too small for her. She looks tall enough for a 100 cc dirtbike but she couldn't handle that yet. Having your babies get hurt is a very frightening thought. I freak when they fall off their feet.

My insurance is actually under my dads name and since we have the same first and last name that works out very well.

Lots less to think about!(except those "killer deer".)WoHooo!

Yeah, the deer really scare me. I've only seen one while riding so far which is just luck out here in west Texas because there everywhere. We made a 600 mile trip last weekend down to the more southern part of Texas and rode back at night and only ran about 50 most of the way because we were afraid of hitting a deer. Theres some awful videos of that on youtube and i dont want any part of it.

Next weekend we will be riding out to Ruidoso, New Mexico for a big bike rally, hope to see some of yall there!

Where i work its government controlled but it a wild life preserve of one type or another, and one of the dangers there if the Deer you can count on them being there like clock work at dusk and at 10:45 to 11:05 pm lol well one of my riding boys got slammed by a Doe at about 35 mph hit him right at the front wheel bike had 5000 mi wham totaled the bike and I've said to him so many times dude get a deer wistle they are cheep small and you can ride alot safer knowing that bambi will not be on the road when it hears the thing I have them on three of my bikes and I think they work as when going in to work I can see them running away as i cruise in Not so when I am in the truck or on bicycle I think if your going to ride anywhere in the hills or any where you think Deer may be you need this as bad as a helmet

My daughter just finished the MSF class at almost 17 years of age. I can assure everyone she won't be learning to ride on a Busa! and certainly not on my 14!!

Hopefully Mr. youngninjadude is, as Rook suggests, too busy chasing tail to post!!

WOW when I was 17 raced and crashed everything I touched. If someone would have given me a bike with 30% of the capability of a zx14 has I would have died for sure. But I can tell you that you are not the first person to buy a zx14 as a first bike and that’s a damn shame. WTF

I don't blaim HIM though. I guess it's legal over there. If we had no 34hp rules here, i would've been buying it too. But yeah, my girlfriend wouldn't agree with me, and my parents neighter most likely.

I hope he takes it slow! I got my first bike when I was 17 off the showroom floor (95 zx6r)and I know it's NOT a zx14, but it was a fast bike for back in the day. I have to admit I was way too young at 17 for a sport bike. I'm lucky I didn't get killed on that thing!

^^I've had about the same weight with me and a passenger on the bike and the acceleration from 50 - 100 was not a world of difference from when it was just me. Not really noticeable without a stopwatch, I don't think. The main dif I noticed was normal street riding at lower rpm. Still, pretty impressive. Maneuvering with 280 lbs on top of the bike is a lot different from 170 lbs though.

"I've found my 280 lbs really calms this baby down"...............don't be lulled to sleep now.I wouldn't count on 280 lbs slowing these baby's down.Perhaps ya just need to OPEN ER UP A WEE BIT MORE!!! Any mods yet?Pull yer flies and PCIII(JEFFOmap)and pipe er.4 degree ignition advance won't hurt either.See how "calm" she is after that(take er to 5 grand in first, then PUNCH IT!"like water off a duck's back" Remember Slidderhd-those clipons ARE your grab rails!!!!!
