The fuel cap is vented, although the venting passages are very small. If you could find a length of teflon tubing the same o.d. as the i.d. of the metal vent/overflow pipe, you could snake it down the overflow inlet and make a makeshift liner that would still provide venting while bridging the leaking area of the tube. Just a thought.

Out the vent tube.Coming out around the kickstand area there.Pressure that is.Fuel overflow comes out in basically the same place...away from the pipes of course.

C'mon Hub...figure this out.Geez..it can't be TOO difficult...
My visual goes like this:

Fill up a glass of water. Stick a bendable straw in the water. Stick the end of the straw thru the bottom of the glass, she is all sealed off, imagine. You are now sucking air. This is the drain tube thru the tank. At the flex tube area, there is a stress crack or split down the straw near the top or at the bent point of the flexed straw.

Here is where there is gas expanding up the tube [If] we have a broken straw. It moves up the straw and begins to drain at that open point of the straw. Make sense? Plus, you'll feel more confident if you dabbed some 'amazing glue' over that plugged up hole. Don't know if they sell that your way. That is not too trustworthy at this point. Lots of vibe, lots of pressure the less gas in the tank too. Can't heat up cool gas. But you can expand air if you heat it.

Before your criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you do criticize them, you're a mile away and have their shoes.
