I did a lot of quandering when I first looked over the mounting. The long thru bolt is replacing a motormount! It is smaller and doesn't fill the hole like the original. I took mine off after a few hundred miles to remove the fairings. I took the original thru bolt and slid it back into position. That means there was no misalignment happening with the smaller bolt in place. This is probably due to the fact that the lower motormount, right below it, continues to maintain the alignment. All that is required of the upper bolt is sufficient tension to hold the frame/motor sandwich together. They tolde me that the bolt provided is a high strength bolt. Original specs don't call for all that much torque on the thru bolt. I torqued it a little tighter because it is using tension to hold the assembly rather than filling the hole so that shear strength is mostly required to hold the assembly. Hopefully the remaining stock, lower, thrubolt is strong enough to withstand the shear forces involved. I was confident enough that it would that I went ahead and mounted the Rail.
