2 reasons you shouldn't buy a 14R
10/29/11 11:20 AM

1. The New 1000R:
Although the 10R came close last year this year liter king is still the 1000RR. It didn't stop the german manufacturer from adding more midrange, refining the ergo and improving some of TC modes and as all the japanese companies are bumping their prices the Uber bike from germany becomes more and more appealing.

BEEMER

2. The Ducati Superquadro Panigale
195 hp, light as a feather, ok maybe not. There is just something about owning the ferrari of sport bikes and being able to tell a woman "would you like to hop on my panigale" without getting slapped lool. Now this is a top model. If I was shorter, weighted 170 lbs and was given a trust fund... this would be my weapon.

Panigale

RE: 2 reasons you shouldn't buy a 14R
10/29/11 1:09 PM

Hmm... Good points DK - BUT... Here are MY two reasons I bought the 14 and will buy the 14R

1. Yes, the Beemer has been tweeked for this year making it more of a monster than it already is, but I am 6'3" tall and weight 245lbs, and while the S1000R would probrably be a GREAT track bike, I don't get to the track much, so I would have to try and live with it on 4hr rides that I take on average, sometimes longer, which I know I couldn't. I tried one on before I bought the 2010 ZX14 that I have and it just didn't fit me - the "ergos" will never change enough to make it fit either... Don't get me wrong, the beemer is a BAD ASS bike, strong and beautiful, it's just too damn small for my BIG, OLD, Ass!!!! And besides, how much faster can it go than the "fastest accelerating production bike in the world"???? I really don't care if my bike OR the 14R can beat the beemer, it won't while I am on it anyway - and I got the 14 because it has style, style that the winking beemer can't match in my eyes... But the beemer has some bad ass colors for 2012!

2. Ducati Panigale... for one it's even smaller than the BMW!!! Bicycle narrow. Sitting on the current 1198 gave me a wedgie from hell! Felt like I was sitting on a 2x4 with a nice cover. And again, that damn style thing come into play, even though the duck is like a fine ass woman, I'd look like a circus bear riding a pocket rocket... I think that woman would only NOT slap me because she was laughing too hard at the figure of me riding a bike two sizes too small for my size!! Other than that, Ducati's are dream bikes to me, as in they make me dream of a time when I was 20 years younger and a whole Mini me smaller than I am now and could pull off riding a Duck and still look cool... the only Duck for me is the Diavel, it's man sized and according to Duck's own literature, it out accelerates anything that they have (only 2/10ths down to the V-Max in the 1/4 mile)... maybe not the new Panigale, but everything else...

Yep, I agree with you all the way bigwillie. If I get the Beemer it would be just as a track bike or quick twisties...
The new color is awesome!
P.S. I may come down to check you out when you get that 14R!

1 reason you should have the new 14R torque leave 'em for dead torque. While those bikes are slipping clutches downshifting and wheelieing you will be long gone. Period.

Alg8er, fuck the little people.... LOL. DK those are 2 great reasons why YOU should not buy the 14. Personally being 6'0 235 the 14 fits ME very well, especially with bar risers and the pegs relocated. Each to their own.... Personally I want a sporty cruiser that me & the wife can jump on for a few hours, having a tons of balls just makes the 14 more appealing. If I wanted a street legal race bike I would look at the new ZX-10, R1 or BMW.

Not as round? Are you calling me a fat fuck? Shit I have a 36" waist and 54" shoulders... I have been asked often if I was a football player, actually a MMA freak... Too bad I am 43, if I was in my 20's I would be tearing ass professionally.

looool I'd give the props to the guy, he's wearing his protection... but that's where it stops.

I'm 6'5 230lbs. So it'll be 14 all the way for me as well. But if I had to choose the ultimate weapon it'll have to be between the Beemer, MV or Duke. Look at what BMW did! They have the King of the liter bike and still improve on it the following year. Compare that to the 14, how long did it take for Kawi to give us palpable improvements on the 14, look at Suzuki with the Busas... Everybody was sleeping on their laurels. BMW came out and started collecting heads in the liter and sport touring department. Do you think the 11 ZX-10R would have been what it is without a 1000RR? The way I see it the 14 R should have been a gen 2. Man... Imagine Beeemer decided to go after the Busas and 14s... it would be kawi and Suz loss but our gain. We need more competition in the hyper bike department!

Uh, serious? Peak hp, standing acceleration and track times to decide? Then the 14r ain't for you. Torque was mentioned and deserves repeating. I weigh significantly less than most of you and am one of the midgets who ride a 14. The new 14r will pull you from corner to corner with less twist of the wrist at the lowest rpms faster than anything else on the planet on two wheels, stock from the factory. Period. No liter bike can come close to what kawi does with 1441cc's. It's the king of stump pulling grunt. You aren't going to get anything close to that experience on ANY liter bike. Buzz around at 10,000rpm+ and yeah, you will leave the 14r, especially on the street. But c'mon, do you seriously think that's a good idea, even if you have the skill? Where the 14 excels is is at getting a litle more velocity with least amount of effort. And for fast paced street riding, very few bikes are able to match it's effortlessness, calmness, and "what's the big deal" attitude about it way. BMW's answer is the K and it falls short in more ways than not.

Being an Italian myself and feeling the draw to have an Italian bike out of pride for ancestry, I never saw a Ducati I would want to own. Even after watching that hype video posted above. There was a time back in the 90's when they had something going on but now I really don't see the need for these high end ass crackers. Sure some people want the very best money can buy. And you probably have to ride one to understand the allure. But I think I'd rather be ignorant for the chunk of change they want for these narrow-use machines. Besides, I'm, actually Sicilian so screw those snobby northerners!

Well, well, well, if it isn't the meeting of the fatfuk'is is. Is that watts troubling you bunk key? Well, lift yur head up high, take a ride in the sun, the only way to follow the sun, son, is the orange jewel, just keeps going and going.

Shit'inn sit in that 14 and it is one ache in the ass, the grass is greener on the eye tail yawn is why I kept that tail on. That is one sexy line back there as in more classic than all the other pin head pointed yap your knees off is how you ride those is bikes.

But, some sweet sausage only the eye tail yawns can prawn some sauce too, and to sit on that plate of eye tell ya, that bike can follow the sun of a gun is that a comfortable bike. Slow too like sipping fine wine and let it burst in your pallet. But, come the pallets FOB, gotta get me off the little speed getty ready for the R.

Put me on 89 pounds of torque is like eating pork without the beans, or the BLT is just LT for Little Toe. More like boothe sit for the power hit of the R for READY for 120lb/tq... Piss on your 19? HP, you, you garlic breath!

If this is not marketing, I don't know what else to call it. Those aholes may know about HP, but they know jack about seating position the big frame'd buyer. I feel for ya if you know that ape seating position is more comfortable than leg crampcity. Arm numb just to where the risers do not. Amazing as that sounds, it is an inch or two that will do the trick but those sakissers are not sucking up to their hello?

It may be fast yeah, but I gotta turn around soon... No, I'm not calling about some muffler ring size... I'm talking size IS here in this post is toast year ass is for not listening give me that ringadingding... Hello?!

Go look up where I said the rr does not handle and is spitting off their riders if they tack it up. Now, the brochure reads, 'we changed the front end handling before you couldn't feel it go away, now you can, so maybe it will work dis time?' is alleged.
