Take your chances and outride him? your bike is only stock.. its more embaressing imo for him to lose to you than vice versa, being that he has weight advantage, idk about powerwise but like I said, take the race, ya lose one ehhh who cares its only stock..
On a side note.. I know you probably dont like to lose as much as I dont, but sometimes you gotta take chances.. my 2 dineros

If you weight more than him DO NOT DO the roll on, find an excuse unless you guys race for miles. The top speeds are pretty close so it will depend on who has the best aero.
If you do the 1/4 drag race then you've got the edge... just don't loose. The future of the ZX-14 R marketing is in your hand lol

One of these nights I'm gonna take him out to the duramax spot and see how it goes, I am "losing" the crown in town with him so I need to get 2-0 and let all the 14r guys breathe lol

+1, race him in the 1/4 and let the 14's torque work for you at maximum potential... If you can't launch it really hard there is allways a TC2 + 6-7K launch technique ;-). Warm up your tires well, unless you like spinning the shit out of the metzlers.....

A sprocket swap should ease you're mind some Swap to a 3 up in back or down one in front.....I'd do the back if it will fit with the chain, its a little lower gearing than the front swap, and easier to get to. Plus unless anybody looks real close the bike will still appear stock

I weigh 215-225 and 1 up on SWB is a problem to keep down in 1-2, nos in 3rd lifts the front.... I can't imagine going down 1 in the front or 3 in the rear... Could be fun if wheelies are your thing!

A fella on Bikeland just posted about roll-ons with the 14R vs S1000RR. Check it.
AND another vid on KawiWorld of a 14R getting spanked during roll-ons.

I'm confident in my abilities. In the eighties nobody on anything could beat me on a dragrace on my Gs1100E.I had one in the nineties and dusted a FZR1000.Just keep the clutch loaded and when the light turns yellow the other way hammer it.Used to use my boots as wheelie bars.

I would just say the "I can outride him" thought needs to go. Riders who have ridden for a long time as this guy has, according to OP, develop skills that can't be acquired in a few years.
The old saying "The fast old guy" is not far from the truth. It just breaks down and is untrue at the higher end of any competitive physical activity, like motorcycle racing. OP is not fast enough or good enough to bring the activity into the "higher end" of such an activity.
So OP's best choice is to make a riding buddy out of old guy, and second best choice (far down the scale) is a 1/4 mile event at a drag strip with a tree, where you might have better reaction time (or might not) but should have better performance from a standing start.
Keep in mind the RR is kicking ass and taking names in WSB and doing better as they work the kinks out. With a nobody riding it, they are getting podiums and ZX10Rs are not. So the bike is a race horse like the ZX10R, just a better race horse because Kawasaki still doesn't get it.

Privateer--nice second and almost first in Spain for the BMW last weekend, but to be fair the ZX10 would have taken a third place if not for the end of race wreck.
