Maintenance Logbook

Does anyone have a ZX-14-specific logbook that shows things like valve interval miles, spring/coil checks, etc?

Only my Owner's manual and another loose-leaf that I use......I like the way that sounds-"zx14 specific logbook".Cool.

YOu are responsible for the service intervals if you want warranty covered on your new bike. Save receipts of oil and filter and required parts to complete service @ what mileage. Document the day, write down mileage and what was done in your Owner's Manual or the official, "ZX-14 BeSpecific in year logbookey?"

Being from an aviation background, I'm a fanatic about recording everything I do, action, hours, date etc. With four bikes to stay on top of, it's becoming a challenge to make sure all of my inspections and replacement intervals are maintained. I'm experimenting with a maintenance log format on an Excel spreadsheet right now. When I'm satisfied I'll share it but in the meantime if you guys come up with something you like let me know. Not happy with the log in the owners manual as it is way to short if you keep the bike for any length of time. One thing that might work is aircraft style log books, it's a tried and true system that keeps very sophisticated equipment safely operating and the books are inexpensive to buy.

I've got 12 hours toward a pilot's license and I'm right there with ya Kruz. Kawasaki manual just doesn't have enough real estate. I'd sure appreciate that spreadsheet when you finish. Perhaps you can make it publicly available and we can all add stuff to it until it.....becomes....the....ULTIMATE.....LOGBOOK....LogBook.....logbook...echoes off into the distance. Pause for effect.

I just have a small notebook that I log everything I do to the bike in. Oil changes.. date.. miles.. brand/weight of oil. Also tires, airfilters, mods, etc...
Also have one for the dirt bike that I keep ride miles so I can time my gearcase oil changes, clean air filters, and such.

I am also a student pilot with 34 hours and I understand the need to have more info then the Owners Manual gives you. If you have Microsoft office with MS Access you can follow this link to a maintenance report that I put togeather. I hope you like it?

You have to cut and paste into your browser.

The link icon is the 7th from the left in the toolbar... supposed to look like a chain, but not so much.

You guys need to learn to use google better lol !

I found dozens of references to maintenance log templates for Excel, already completed.

Examples :

A KTM Maintenance Log

A car maintenance program

I fixed the link above. Just cut and paste it into your browser and it will work if you have MS Office with MS Access.

When I googled "maintenance log excel" I got over 10 pages of links. The top link was at Microsoft in their Excel templates section. There were a number of possibles just on that link alone.

My point is, if you wait for someone to post a link to something acceptable to you, you don't get a chance to find one for yourself which is just what you want.

Or heaven forbid, learn how to tweak a template to make it what you want.

:)

Yeah, I know I know. But when someone says they're going to creating a spreadsheet specific to your bike, you tend to get hung up on it and realize you won't have to make as many changes to it. I already hate spreadsheetness enough as it is, so having someone else do that modification stuff would be all the better. Especially knowing that the intervals for certain maintenance would be accurate vs other bikes.

So you are saying you are spreadsheet-challenged ? I can understand that.

I'm not, along the way they started popping up in business and I had no choice but to learn. Glad I did.
