Well...my last ride last year was I believe in late September sometime...I think.I put my bike in hibernation.Basic average temp in my garage...25-32 degrees...for right about 4 months...maybe a shade less.I went out to start her just last Friday.Key on...switch push...4-5 cranks...fired perfectly.NO tender during sleep.Very good investment methinks;)

I keep mine on a Shorai maintainer over winter. Never use the maintainer in the summer. The battery is going into year #4 of service starting in April of this year. Mine is a smaller battery than Shorai recomends and it has still outlasted the service life of the battery that came in the bike. I expect it will give me another season of trouble free service and hopefully more. No problems so far.

I've been running antigravity batteries for a couple years in the 10R
Sold it wit bike so got a new one for the 14 they cost more than shorai but there made here in the USA and have more cranking amps...
There's no need to put them on charge really as u found out Grn... However if u have parasitic draw such as an alarm it then would be wise to attach a charger.. Otherwise no need there always ready!!

If you ever want to put a ring terminal for an accessorie on a Shorai, you'll have a hell of time getting the screw that secures the cable to grab the little square nut in the battery post. The nut is just tall enough to touch the tip of the screw when the cable terminal is on top of the post. You need to shim the nut up just a hair and the problem is solved. I think a single plastic washer would do the trick if you cut two sides flat to fit in the post. I used this electrical contact insulator I found laying around and ground it down a bit. Seems to me, this would make connecting the posts a lot easier even if you don't have other stuff hooked up to the battery. I always battled with that inside cable when installing after winter storage.

Maybe Shorai makes them different now but here's mine. Was a snap!

I had a similar problem with my yuasa battery, I just grabbed a bolt that was 1/4" longer and problem solved. Just make sure its not too long that when you tighten it the bolt doesn't hit the battery as when its TOO long it can puncture the battery.

Yeah that's why I went with the shim. Never occurred to me that when you put more stuff on top of the post, the bolt doesn't go in as far either.
