Best place for a GPS Ram mount?
09/01/16 12:12 PM

Hi!

Where you should place a Ram mount in order to install some Garmin/Tomtom in the bike?

People usually place some stem-mount into the fork, just like this:

but i've seen some other installing a Ram ball in the front screw of the tank. I think this way could be better in terms of cockpit visibility , and remains more aesthetic in my opinion

But, wich ram-gadget should i use?? I've seen these:

M8 screw with 3 different lenghts... ¿some fits the ZZR 1400?

Thanks

My solution was to install a crossbar. One attachment is permanent and affords me recordings of tach and speedo for racing. The Ram mount lets me add camera, gps or whatever...

Chrly, I like it! Is it just a piece of conduit formed and painted? Or did you design up something special? Details Please and thank you!

Rudy.. It is pretty crude but it works.. 7/8 aluminum tubing Flattened on the ends and bent to the proper angle . The front portion at teh stabilizer had to be slightly shaped to clear it. slightly longer lower screws for attachment at the bars . The Ram mount had to be enlarged a bit where it grips the tube.
A bit of Rust-Oleum Oil Rubbed Bronze color paint and it doesn't look too bad :)
Like I said, crude but it works for me..

chrly - Boy that gets you quite a bit of real estate and therefore options on mounting things ... multiple things.

Good thinking!
