Not my skin, the bike's. I just noticed all 3 of the fasteners between the top cowl and the LH side were gone! The lowers were off and because I have permanently removed that side frame rail on the left, that fairing was just holding on by the fairing hanger and the bolt that goes into the air box. No upper inner cowl to pin to and no lowers either! It pulled out of place up at the point where it is overlapped by the top fairing but it never flew up or anything. Good thing I didn't go too fast. I see there us a small tab that cracked on the upper but I think that might have already been like that. I'll have to weld that.
So where did my fancy shmancy blue Dzus fasteners go? There they were laying on the floor. I never put them in. That point is such a PITA to get in place, I forgot to put the fasteners in.
I think this is the second time I've done this now. When the bikes been apart a long time, take a long time to make sure all the fairings are back on properly. I also should make the plastic extension I planned to anchor the LH side fairing to the frame now that the rail is out permanently.
