Tire Protection System
05/19/11 10:29 PM

Anyone ever tried this: http://www.ride-oncanada.com/

Local shop is promoting. I've seen tire slime before and I'm skeptical of tire performance at high speed with this stuff in there but they say it actually feels smoother and protects against punctures at the same time.

The tires I have now are almost done so may try it on the new set. Curious if there is any noticeable stability changes at speed.

well took her out for a 200 mi ride with the ride on in her and it seems to work just as good as the dyna-beads but if your into the weight saving game it adds 10oz compared to the 4 oz of dynabeads, but you do have puncture protection with the ride-on stuff

I agree bean but there are those that go to alot of expense to get their bike lighter ie: c/f wheels that may not like the added weight

I for one would LOVE to ride a 14 with CF wheels.I really want to see how the big bird would handle. No one who has em has really gotten down with a detailed description of the differences in CF and stock wheels. If I had some....I'd be postin serious ride reports about em and how they perform. You know they gotta be workin SHWEET!

One thing though I'd be kinda leary about.High speed cornering.Rapid transitions. They're kinda designed for DRAG bikes aren't they?Well..okay..guess not.But still...the weights of our bikes'were all designed into the complete package of safe handling, yes? So I wonder....what the 560 something pound motorcycle with rider would safely handle like in some serious sweepers and curves at speed. It seems to me that the sheer weight factor of my bike helps to hold er on the road and on a line pretty solidly.IDK what lighter(much lighter) CF wheels would do in that regard.

Seems a bit overkill to me?. I've been ridng 15+ years and maybe got two or three punctures and never noticed any of them till I happened to look at the tire while the bike was sitting. Only one ended my riding for the season. Just my 2 cents but I think going to these extremes is not necessary unless your parking somewhere like a junkyard or bottle recycling plant everyday. Sometimes, thinking you can depend on something to back you up can be a bad thing when you expect it to work and it doesn't.

i have used a similar product before, on a gsxr 1000k3,
a problem i found was, if you accelerated as hard as the bike can go from low mph, the wheel would spin faster than the sealant can spread about the tyre, causing a fuked up pogo effect on the fron fork/suspension, as the seal did not get a chance to spread evenly, you there fore have a weight spinning around in your wheel, making for a very dangerous situation,
at first i had no clue what was happening, i slowed down and it disappeared, after checking and rechecking everything, and trying to replicate what happened i eventually figured out that it could only be the sealand, we rechecked the amount in the tire, which as the specified amount,
i could only replicate what happened under flat out accelerating, and it would not always fo it, but after removal of sealant, it would not do it again,
it gave me quite a fright, as the font of the bike started to vibrate and judder up and down pretty violently, if you can imagine the effect caused by the weight of the sealant held in one spot by the gyro forces, it wasnt nice

Bump.

Comin up on a tire change. I've already decided on the new model M5's tires, but I'm wondering what folks running this tire puncture preventative, RideOn, think of it so far.

Motero's comments above are pretty interesting, and might dissuade me from buying it, but I'm mullin this...

My experience with RideOn in my other 3 cycle's worth of tires is positive. No steering issues, no balance issues. But, I don't run those cycle like I run this one. I use it in them to keep me from being stranded in remote areas with no tire flat fixes, or services, in the area (think: forest service roads, or single track routes).

No punctures have occurred, but I like the idea that they will seal if encountered. So, I don't really have any first-hand experience with the sealing properties, but I want to be a believer :)
