On the '08 the front is 17 teeth.

if you are looking for the zepher 16 tooth sprocket it's part #13144-1317. i bought one from cyclepartsnation.com. you could probably find a better deal if you searched though. if you do let me know. their shipping price was high. if you just want to replace the stock 17 tooth. the year model shouldn't make a difference in sprockets.

Replaced my front with a 16 tooth sprocket this weekend and for how I ride 1st used to be hard to hold on during hard acceleration. Now, its 1,2,3

Haven't done any top speed tests but I'm sure the bike will go faster than I'm willing.

Hmm, I don't have a bike stand and it was only a marginal pain replacing the front sprocket...

After running the smaller front sprocket and having fun I'm convinced the stock gearing/sprockets are about perfect. I'll be changing mine back before I do any multi-day road trips this year.

Besides, tires are expensive :-)

For long trips I totally agree. Have you tried up one or two in the back ? I thought the bike should have come with the 43R. Just a real nice all around gear. It also lifts the chain up resulting less chain noise.

Just ordered a BT016 190/55 for the rear and plan to leave the 16 tooth sprocket to keep my forward speed close to stock (i.e. bigger tire + smaller front sprocket = closer to stock than putting the 17t back on). Is anyone riding this combo? Comments?

no, that's going to get you closer to actual speed. a smaller rear sprocket will actually get you closer though. i'm running 17/40 with a 190/55 right now and i think it's pretty close.
