Am I understanding you want to keep the Akropovic exhaust and put the plates back onto the back footrest.
You will have to modify the exhaust hanger bracket. It needs the two screws to line up on the back foot rest to fasten it.

The heel guard gets bolted into the 2 small holes at the bottom of the passenger foot rest / exhaust hanger bracket, so it looks to me like you'll have to drill a hole at the rear of the Akrapovic muffler's hanger tab. And you might also need to take a little off the front of that tab, too, to get the front screw in. Can't tell for sure.

Looks like it will work fine, although I've never drilled titanium. Here's a video on how to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ktFcBSOhlo

By they way, you could also tell your passenger: "STOP TOUCHING MY MUFFLERS WITH YOUR SHOES!!!"

Well, since the small plate you want has the center bolt holding it(once installed),you just need to drill for a screw(aft of the center hole).I don't think you need to go drill into the factory mount bracket at all.I mean, nothing's going anywhere, right?
Does your OEM hanger have the two small attachment holes on it?

Yes. It has two holes.
I think that I will not have any choice but to dril into the rear of the Akrapovic muffler's hanger tab/bracket.

It will take me some time to do so.

Thanks for your good advice.

"dril into the rear of the Akrapovic muffler's hanger tab/bracket"...yep.Doable...totally.I suppose a shop could drill that for ya?I've never drilled Titanium...have no idea.I think the threads for that hanger plate are the same as the factory screws that are used on the bodywork...I think.Maybe check and see.May have to cut some off...the threads don't go all the way through the hanger.Be nice if they did for this application.

I guess I should ask...did the hanger come with the screws in it?If so...yer all set.

Drilling Ti is not a big deal. Slow feed speed, and moderate pressure. Let the drill do the work. If you go fast or use to much pressure, you will dull bit, and or work harden the Ti. Gutting oil is not a bad idea, although we never used it in the military. If you can find a split tip bit, it has two angles on the tip, they tend to work much better.

Good luck
Ron
