Good on ya. Glad you didn't give it away before you were sure. Just keep your head in check a bit, make sure your 100% tuned in to whats going on. And if your not in the right zone, treat 'er like the Harley. She wont get mad, honest. Save the aggression for the right time/place, and you'll have as much chance as any of us do from walking away after every ride. And the other (insert small percentage) of issues that come up we cant control, just have to be accepted as part of being on two wheels. Remember, there is no shame in leaving some margin of error; or safety margin when riding on the street. No need to try and ride the tires right to the edge.

I thought I was ready for a cruiser too, I even bought a Stratoliner 1900 which is very powerful for a cruiser, but after a few thousand miles I said the hell with this and traded it for a Concours 14 which I love!

I am here trying to score some headers for it.

The conclusion I have come to in my motorcycling experience is that cruisers are more dangerous than standard, sport touring or sport bikes. On a cruiser you loose all of the necessary ergonomics of control. Feet forward, flat on your ass, under powered, and minimal ground clearance. All these factors limit your ability to control the bike when danger enters the picture. I know I am preaching to the choir here.

I'm almost 60 and at age 50 I got back into motorcycles. I went completely around the block. Sport touring moto guzzi, harley road king, another touring guzzi, then an FJR, then a big dog 1900 cc Yamaha cruiser (Roadliner). The roadliner was a way better bike than the harley. Back to a naked standard, a couple of blackbirds. I now ride an 07 zx14. Best one so far (since the cblast flash). When I get really old I may get a wing or just settle for a convertible.
