Performance upgrades
02/12/17 9:00 PM

Hey everyone, I'm looking to upgrade my 2010 14, I just ordered a Full Voodoo exhaust. Im wanting to go through Schnitz Racing to get a ECU reflash. Im trying to transition in to more raw speed on a straight away HW. Wanted to extend and change sprockets. Will I need a PCV if im doing a reflash on the ecu , And recommended sprocket teeth for more acceleration with about a 6inch stretch. Thanks !!!

You won't need a PC5 with a flash. The gain you could get by refining the flashed fueling will not be noticeable unless the flash was made at a much different altitude than you are at.

I have a 45T rear with 17T front. Stock is 41/17. I do not need an extended swingarm...probably would be a consideration if doing drag race launches. 17/45 is like you dropped one gear....is not going to kill you. Bike feels a bit more aggressive but really, if you just don't use 6th gear, you have pretty much the same effect. If you go any shorter on your gearing than 17/45, you will not be able to hit 186 mph but you will accelerate quicker.

Yes, new chain... stretch plus the added sprocket diameter change.

If you have enough chain stretch, the old chain might fit a 45 t sprocket. There's no sense in putting a chain almost used up on a new sprockets though. You'll lose a lot of the life of all parts just wearing them in together. Best to change front rear and chain all at the same time unless the part is almost new.

I made my new chain 1 link longer than stock. With a 45 tooth sprocket that put my rear axle back a little farther than where it was with the old stretched out chain. --Advantage this gives me is that I can run a 200/55 tire without touching the swing arm. Not sure if I could with stock chain length.
