new fairings
04/23/13 1:05 AM

I did the search on the forum before posting this thread, but Saturday 20APRIL13 a woman leaving the bar hit my bike. Where my bike fell on another bike was right in the corner of the front right fairings. the SWEET spot that has the whole front connected also with some damage to the bottom. I'm looking to replace those and having looked up on ebay at some of those of "complete" kits. Has anyone bought any from there?if so what did you get? Feel alittle better if i can buy them from the states, if you guys know a place here please let me know.

Thanks for the help

I have purchased those "kits" for my ZX9 and was VERY dissappointed, the fitment was aweful (had to re-drill EVERY hole, a couple of pieces just didn't fit, but my OEM pieces were still good so I used them instead) and in less than a year the top coat started to come off... You get what you pay for, if its just 1-2 pieces check out bike bandit or some of the other sites like that (I can't remember which site had the best price on the fairing peices) and buy the individual OEM pieces.

You will also need to purchase the foam/insulating pieces that stick on the insides of the fairings but the decals (if applicable) are already part of the main fairing part.

thanks man... That seems to be the common theme with those kits off ebay. my bike is in the shop now, i'm waiting on the insurance people to come look at it so i can get the money to replace the fairings. I found a guys who was suggested on some of the threads. Its like Velocitykings from ebay, he sells some new and used fairings from here in the states. I've looked at some of his stuff, looks legit and already talked to the guy. Looking at buying some used ones and getting the bike painted.

I bought my OEM fairing pieces from partspitstoponline.com

Best prices I could find anywhere.

And from what I learned, all the emblems, decals, foam pads......all them are seperate parts you have to order, as well. None of the parts come together, at least from my experiences. They make sure they get every bit of money they can out of you.

I recently bought the fairing parts, and had to seperately order the Ninja emblems, and pads that go on the back as seperate parts. Just cause they are attached don't mean they come free!!! LOL

Best of luck, and i agree with the others in that I wouldn't waste money on the cheap crap....especially not on a bike this nice.

I broke a piece off my RHS middle fairing panel while trying to refit it in sub zero temperatures and it cost me just over £200 for an OE replacement and that was for the bare panel. The indicator light, black inner panel, foam sound deadening pad, grommets and screws etc all had to be transferred over from the old panel. Just having the bike fall off the stand could easily cost £1000+.

I ordered some used fairings from the velocitykings guy off ebay. He also has a regular website you can order from as well. They worked out great for me, I rattle can painted the three parts to match the old paint. Getting the bike painted in a couple weeks.. With the money i got back from the insurance company for the OEM parts i was able to get the parts and custom paint. Give him a look if you are in the market for parts that are used, they did have some scratches on them but i wasnt worried about that because they are getting a custom paint.

Thats what happened to me a few weeks ago with my 2012
I was putting the bike on the paddock stand and it slipped off.
Scratched the lower fairing , middle fairing ,grilles ,bar end, lever Akropovic muffler ,rear cowling and indicator light .
TOTAL BILL $5036.00 AUSSIE.
THANK GOD FOR INSURANCE ...EXCESS WAS ONLY $400.00.
Damage was minimal , you could barely see most of it, and Swann insurance were fantastic in the fact they replaced everything with oem no arguments.

"Nobody has those frame sliders on there?"

Of course. Those were the first parts I agonized over for days, selecting which make would be "best" in the case of a 0 MPH crash.

I hope I dont get to experience the $5000 test anytime soon...

I opted to try these abs fairings even with all of the negative things I saw. For the price I am fairly satisfied. I paid 450 shipped for these and although they are not as strong as OEM I havent had much probelms with them. i did have one of the fairing crack in the rear but i think i may have tightened the nut too muc hand well, i ride pretty fast and im always readjusting. I would buy these again, I mean for the price it is worth it! Any questions please let me know!

recently read a story about a busa that had aftermarket fairings fly off the bike at 70 mph. Think I'll stick to OEM.

I'm a bike bandit fan but im a little anal about haveing oem plastics, and you really need the frame sliders, they saved me money when my little boy stepped on the shifter in the garage and kinda sent it rolling, had to replace a lower but saved my upper and some other stuff.
