Metz Tires still good @4600
06/23/12 3:21 PM

Had a friend of mine look over my tires today and I asked his opinon on how they look with 4600 miles on them. Spirited riding only, no track days either. So far he and I think theyll go another 2000 miles maybe a tad less or more depending on temps.

Today it was almost 92* and a buddy of mine and I had alittle fun. Actually he followed me home so I could drop my car off. He took my bike and I rode bitch on the way back to the shop. Hes been riding dirt and street for years and owned his own performance shop for years so hes ridden alot of different bikes and knows his shit.

Well today we leave the bike shop and I look over and tell him follow me and take it easy on that bitch. I can see Big M is laughing even tho he got his helmet on and I get a bad feeling that hes gonna abuse my baby lol. Well he pulls out behind me and I look in the rear view and Big M bakes the tire and then wheelies past me in the first 3 gears (full pwr with KTAC-1 selected). Ill have to say its fun to see an old dirt track racer have that much fun. He rides a Ducati 1198S which I havent rode yet.. LMAO payback... So with that said Im going to post a picture once I get my hands on one of him and I driving down the highway and back to the shop in my underwear and workboots. We were both laughing so hard I thought we were gonna crash. Rode by a State Trooper who had someone pulled over and I think he just shook his head when he looked at me. I thought for a second he might get in his car and come after us but I think he was too busy and I can only imagine he was trying to look serious as he was actually writing someone up. Either way Big M and I had one hell of a laugh.

Of course once Big M and I got back to the shop and made afew passes for pictures and pulling my shorts way past the no return point we parked around back so I could throw my trousers on only to hear one of the owners who also happens to be a female say "Crazy K dont ever do that again in front of the shop". LMAO sure thing honey... ;-)

Anyways not sure if the bikes tires are gonna go another 2000 after Big M rode her, but again so far at 4600 miles the stock Metz's are looking pretty good.

Well folks hope everyone is doing well and staying safe...

My Metzlers didn't look bad a 4500, they had a couple 32nds left on the center. At 4950 they were history. I haven't heard of anyone who got more mileage than that. Good luck.

I spoke with a Pirelli representative this past weekend about my Metzler. They had a display and discussion session at the local Ducati/Aprilia/MotoGuzzi dealership that I frequent.

Their suggestion was the Pirelli Angel ST or the Metzler Z8. Someone on here wrote that their Angel was no more durable than the M5 that came OEM on the bike. I have no idea what tire I'll buy as a replacement this winter but I think the Michelin will be hard to beat for wear and price.

I am at 7,358 on my stock tires. They are still in good condition. Kind of surprising hearing the low miles some of you are getting. I don't do burnouts and I have taken some 3 hour trips. I weigh right at 150...

I just posted about the stock metz tires, anyone feel like they are a slippery tire. They just don't inspire confidence for me. I'd rather get a few less miles and feel good about traction for sure.
