Anyone have any advice as to what the best tires might be for a track day? I'm not concerned about them wearing out too fast on the street, as I will just put them on for a track day. I will probably get some tire warmers.

The track is Miller Motorsports Park if that matters...

If you aren't turning fast lap times in the advanced group I'd say pilot powers

If you are turning fast laps I'd say go with the the power one's

The pilot powers can be picked up for a cheap set price and grip like there's no tommorrow with lower track pressures

I've been visiting quite a bit with the Michelin guy who's there at track days. We're going to go with the Power Pure's and see how we like them. They say these are the "latest generation of Michelin 2CT technology". He says they are using them on the bikes at the Yamaha Champions Riding School there.

And no, I'm not turning fast lap times with the advanced group <grin>...

Just getting started. 9/6 will be my 4th track day (3rd on the ZX-14).

I am going with Dulop Q2's. I figure it is a good tire for both: street and trackday.

I have been asking this question when at the track.

Some are running slicks like Pirelli Pro's. Tempting but pricey. Another B+/A- rider said don't buy slicks. If you don't warm them up enough, you can easily eat asphalt, you should use tire warmers.

He suggested to go with Qualifying tires. A few suggestions are Michlen Power Race, Michlin Power One or Pirelli Diablo Corsa/Rosso. There are many more out there.

I am currently interested in street/track tires and the suggestions were BT-003RS or Dunlop Q2's. I picked up a set of Q2's for $220 delivered.
