Brilotech metal matrix composite rotors. Slightly larger 320mmx5.5 and quite a bit lighter than stock which are pretty light.
Stock zx14 front (310x5.5) each 2.71 lbs 1229.7 grams
stock rear 2.82 lbs 1280 grams
Brilo front (320x5.5) each 2.39 lbs 1085 grams
Brilo rear .93 lbs 420 grams claimed

Anashi front each 3 lbs 1360 grams
Yanashiki front each 3.8 lbs 1723 grams

Rook, what weights do you have for stock and aftermarket front rotors?

Yep AL SiC MMC rotors

These are the end all to lightweight rotors. The Porsche guys GT3 RS and Turbos and other high-end cars for track days come with them. In the early days the word was yeah they are Fing expensive but they dont wear out. Then after guys started wasting a set in a few trackdays or SCCA races and figured out the $20K replacement set was a bit of a surprise, word is many are back to iron so at least they can afford the hobby.

I admit I know nothing about their lifetime in bike road racing applications. How do they hold up?

Rook, what weights do you have for stock and aftermarket front rotors?

Right at a the top of the page here, BRAKES #1

Gen1 Front rotors, some wear: 5 lb, 5.8 oz for both combined weight.

Gen1 Rear rotor: 2 lb, 13.2 oz

Brilo front (320x5.5) each 2.39 lbs 1085 grams

It's interesting to note that my CZ 320mm steel rotors are virtually the same weight as your brilos. If CZ rotors didn't have the crappy vibration under hard use, I'd say those would be the way to go. I believe the vibration happens because the rotors are so thin. I do not think it is just because they are floating rotors if that's what they are (see also my initial replies on this thread).

Those rotors look great Rook, I didn't think they were available for any other wheels though? I included your weights on my list. Thanks for all that you've done to improve our bikes.

They look awesome but they shudder like the dickens when you hit the brake even mildly hard. They are only for CZ wheels, you are correct. ...and as far as I can tell, CZ quit making them years ago.

I will have to add your pic of the Brillotec rotors to the weight loss thread. I have your pic of the ZX-14 caliper in there.

Thanks Rook. After all my searching and work the best weight loss I've found without sacrificing any performance is the BriloTech rear rotor at 420 grams, but it's still overshadowed by a zx10 'superbike rotor or the 100 grams carbon rear rotors out there, but they are smaller diameter and definitely not designed with a >500# bike in mind. I'm still tempted by Beringer's new front calipers though. Next year maybe I'll have enough money to finally do an engine build..

New Ti rear rotor from Fairclough available on Fbook. $425 for a .614# titanium rear rotor. Not bad for a large titanium rotor.

Looks like Beringer is the one if they have made the lighter weight calipers yet. I didn't notice that they did that and I looked at Beringers recently. The ISRs look good. I have heard not the best in performance but they are light and they work. ISR is what I want for the ZX-14. I love the way they look too. I'd paint them black with blue anodized pistons. I thought ISR had a rear with the exposed piston. The last time I looked, it seemed the rear was now a covered piston. Whatever caliper I go with, I would probably also want to go with a MC by the same company. Too expensive to try mixing and matching.

ISR has the most impressive looking brakes, still remember how cool they looked on ghost rider's turbo busa.. The new beringer calipers look pretty sweet too though, in a totally different way, and it looks like they can be ordered with magnetic pistons too.

If I'm into this long enough, I will have a set of both, one set for each bike. I can spend money on this until I die. Unfortunately, I will not be surprised if it takes that long with my income.

Yeah, the ISRs do look very nice in shape. If they did colored anodizing, they would be ten times more eye catching.

I'm thinking about going to some wave rotors on my 2016 ZX14R SE ABS. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

I'd check into some ceramic Brillotecs. I don't think they come in wave rotors but they would be an upgrade over stock at least in the weight dept.

Trust me, BriloTechs are real.

Copy and paste.

https://www.facebook.com/brilotechnology/posts/you-may-think-that-metal-matrix-rotor-is-already-a-unique-product-but-now-we-are/669730883360359/

You scroll down, you will Road Toad has posted to a BriloTech guy who responded in English.

I'd contact contact CoolBrzBlu. He speaks English and sounds like he has a set to sell or else he's become a BriloTech dealer.

Those are pretty bad-ass, and expensive looking rotors.

I'm sure they're not cheap but for the weight loss, I'd like to have a set.
