zx-10 fender

There's the brackets on Ebay to mount a zx-10 front fender. But it states (I believe) only Gen 1 zx-10 (early 2000s)

Any by chance know if newer fenders would mount (greater supply, better condition)?

Check if Yanna Shiki is making a 14R fender. it will hold up as long as you replace the stock clamp nuts with regular hex nuts.

check around. you might find it cheaper. Much lighter than stock zx-10 and looks almost the same. lightweight plastic = easy on the bolts and don't use the stocks or they will rotate and crack it. flimsy but quite adequate for 180 mph even after mending damage from stock bolts.

You could make your own from a thick plate of aluminum. The stocks are steel. the yanna shiki uses stock brackets but I planned to copy them in aluminum to drop a few ounces.

I have a I believe it's a 2008 CBR 1000RR front fender on my 14R. It almost mounts right up. I had to take the stock bracket off the forks and get 2 bolts with nuts for the front. And I haven't made a bracket for the back side yet. I just have it zip tied right now :)

Thanks for all the replies. I like the stock front fender. But I think I like the zx10 or smaller other fenders that people have used) a little mroe. Also for changing the front tire, it'd be easier for me cause I won't have to unbolt the fender to clear that low front.

Rook I hadn't thought about an aftermarket fender (well CF mabye...not sure I want to go that route). Most likelyt his is the route I'll take since it sohould just be a bolt on. Less parts >.

I've been thinking about colors and I think one of the darker blues, between your bike (very dark) and the lighter blue the Gen 2 have come in. I think it's an 08 color, but the tone is similar to the Gold Blazed Green.

I like the matt black sides. I plan to go with that but I don't know what color I will paint the top. I was thinking anodized blue but I don't know if another accent is what the 14 needs. Maybe just go with the bold white stripes and paint the sides flat black.

Vic. Follow Yannih' link that bracket really works for the ZX10R fender. I used a cheap Chinese front fender from eBay. Works perfectly.

Yep I like the Yana Shiki fender. I didn't know anyone made aftermarket fenders (except CF but the only styles I've seen are OE).

I looked at what everyone posted. I think for ~45 if someone wants the Ebay adapters that's a good deal. That's probably what I'd do, but it's just hard to find zx10 front fenders of the specified years. But then Rook showed me a better way - no adapters, not blah blah, just a bolt on (Well I guess paint but that's not a biggy).

Its good just don't use those oem nuts welded to the the clip or if you do, make sure you don't let them spin cuz they'll crack the fender where they come to rest

Maybe use caution with that 10 fender...I remember mine at 180+...front end wanted to skitter a bit.IDK if anyone else had this occur.I ended up taking it off.

I'd think zx10 fender (or similar style) wouldn't be the direct cause of instability, considering the 10 has the same top speed and ease of getting there.

Thanks though, if I end up doing this I'll be mindful if the opportunity presents itself to do high speed stuff. LOL I suppose some caution is always warranted in such cases... OE fender or otherwise!

Yannih's bracket worked a charm. I made it with aluminium and have had it on for a year already. I have tried both Z1000 and zx10(aftermarket fiberglass and genuine part) all worked. However you have to drop the holes by around 10mm for the z1000 mudguard. I'm with rook and like the mat sides on the genuine zx10 one. So stuck with that.

There is a difference in air flow. With the 14 mudguard I had to get a lot lower behind the MRA screen at high speed. With the ZX 10 I don't have to duck as low behind the screen however the bike seems to get "lighter" at very high speeds. Also the rash marks on the side of the radiator are bigger and on the shocks. Also on the front of the lower fairing. However with a bit of vinyl stuck on the front of the bottom fairing bottom and the shocks it's more protected.

next bike I will vinyl the chin area of the lowers for sure. That's the only part of fairings that is definitely going to suffer damage even if the bike never gets dropped.
