what seat
08/17/09 10:09 PM

Just got back from a rip down south and back. Put in long hot days in the saddle ..and though I can handle 4 hours straight without a break.. that seat aint reeeeeeeeeeeeel comfy. It trends to slide you forward. I wonder have any of you all found a good long haul butt gentle replacement seat for our beasts ?

I have the same complaint. Has anyone purchased the new Sargent seat?

I had my Connie seat covered in a black carbon look and added piping to fill the gap by the body panels locally for $100.00 which took care of the problem of the dual color panels.

I ordered one about 3 weeks ago. Should be here soon. I'll let you know how I like it when I get a few miles on it. -bg

Very nice job on the seat.

By the way, who's screen and how tall are you and do you like it. I'm getting a little buffeting from the stocker.

TIA

Extrapilot & ErikR - thanks

My windscreen is a Puig double bubble and it works great, no buffeting. I love it because it also gives the bike a more aggressive look. You can see some better front pics of it under the ZX14-pictures - the thread is Everyone wants to ride a ZX-14. I am 6'.

That looks great also....I like that they have painted the lower area just like the stock one.

Got to get me one of them.

Thanks

I bought the Corbin seat, I love it. Mainly got it for my wife since you can get the removable back rest. She always felt like she was gonna fall off. lol

Rick Mayer did my seat, did a 3000+ mile 6 day trip this summer and it worked great. The neat thing about this seat is that it is custom designed, you send pics in of you sitting on your bike and special requests are accomodated. My initial seat from Rick needed to be adjusted, the pocket moved forward. I only had to pay shipping one way and nothing else.

Very nice motordog1. Did it resolve the issue of getting jammed in the junk?
Could you post some info. on how to contact Rick, and how much he charges?

Except accept the return of defective items or provide online or phone support.

Many of us won't ever buy from Corbin again, having purchased something from them, found it to be unacceptable, and been told point blank "we do not accept returns".

I won't do business with a company with that kind of policy. Period.

Ya know, I've been hearing more and more bad experiences with Corbin. It's a shame too, they used to be a stand up company. I have always gone in person, so I don't really keep up with the mail order side of things.

I got my first Corbin over 10 years ago, the ZX seat is my 4th. If there was someone else local that could make me a seat like that, I'd check 'em out. If people have local options, I would definitely recommend exploring those options first, much easier to get it right in person.
