RF1100
03/05/10 3:42 AM

Just got me a RF1100, the shape is a little weird when you look at it and it even looks kinda big sitting there but when I put it on and took a ride I found it to be the quietest helmet I have ever had. Below 50 mph I dont even think you need ear plugs. I am going to give this thing the thumbs up.

Hey buck20, what kind of windscreen are riding with. I appreciate that you posted results about your helmet and lack of wind noise. I myself have the RF1000 and is pretty decent. However, I am seriously looking at the RF1100. But the windscreen also makes a world of difference.

Both of my bikes have puige double bubble screens. I also have about 5 high quality helmets and there is no comparo between the RF1100 and any of them and wind noise. The blast is gone, I swear man below 60 MPH its like your riding in your car with the windows up! It does have a little problem with foging but all you do is pop the front vent open and it clears right up and the tinted shields are a little hard to get right now but i managed to get a dark smoke. I got the Hadron TC-6 model.

Buck20, thanks for the update on the new lid. Did you ever consider trying the kawasaki "touring" screen.

"Kawasaki Touring Screen".....MRA makes the exact same one.Very Nice at speed.Beats the Puig DB IMO.Helps keep the load on the front as well.

I think I saw that screen at the motorcycle show. Is that the one with the opening in the front to let air thru. They wanted alot of money for that sucker! Besides I dont tour much I just ride like an idiot around town on the freeways.

LOL, well buck20 atleast your honest. But pretty soon you will write checks your ass can't cash in on.
As far as the touring screen, Blue07 is correct MRA does have the same exact screen and with more choice of colors to choose from. However, I still don't know what "shadow line black" is? Anyway, if I stand correct Blue07 started a post about windscreens and he has the iridium color screen, and the topic was about the touring screen. I understand windscreens are subjective and a personal option. But basic physics do apply. As far as the holes in the screen they are there to relieve negative air pressure. So as not to suck you forward. Not as noticable on a small fairing bike as the ZX14 but very noticeable on let's say my previous FJR1300.

I just got a flat black 1100 last week. Have only riden a couple of hundred miles with it and I love it. The only issue is that it seals up so well it fogs up really bad.

Shoei tend to fog very badly. The pinlock is a sure cure. Thats what I run in my X-Eleven here in rainy Wa. Well worth the money its just a shame that all Shoei seem to fog so frickin bad.
Thanks for the review. Hate to put the spendy 11 on the shelf, but the new ones are sounding great.
