Full suit
03/22/09 9:26 AM

Yesterday I tried on three diffrent suits, any recommendations ? I was amazed on how heavy they were(hot). One piece versus two piece . What are you guys wearing(tell me that does not sound wrong). If you can fill me in on the do's and don'ts of the full suit thing that would be great. I plan on hitting the track this year so I have to get my sh.t together .Cheers .

is this for street use? a lot of the track guys in my area wear http://www.bikebandit.com/search-products?q=Alpinestars+SG-1&ch=2&sc=10 they claim the a* stuff is the most comfortable for wearing all day. those prices are pretty good too. the a* site has them listed at almost $700 for the suit! http://www.alpinestars.com/SG1_Suit/pd/np/131/p/315047.html

My suit is heavy but the heavier it is the more it protects your butt.. My suit is made out of kangaroo hide. Tough as nails heavy but it does breath well too. But then again im not worried about hot nor heavy, just about my ass. But i only wear mine on the highway so i wouldnt really know about how hot it get street riding. But if you know a good seamstress, I have had people tell me that thier are alot of tricks they can do to get you nice and cool.

But cowhide is not as tough as kangaroo, so that might be lighter.

overall if you want to spend the cheddar. Alpinestars has a line that will fit your needs. I have some Joe rocket stuff and his suits are pretty light. nice soft durable leather.

My vote is check out joerocket
hope i helped

No camel hump . 2009 suit . I asked the forum for help on what I should buy. No answer . so I tried on every suit in three stores . I am very fussy about my gear . This was the very best suit could find . Please do not tell me this was a mistake . So far it is a great fit . Oh, and it is NOT 25lbs .

Well, I also have Teknic black perforated Chicane jacket, along with black Sport pant, which I think is a better match with the jacket, as it has black stitching, however, it seem it's no longer available. My jacket is 2007, hence I wanted to see pics of 2009 model. Regarding Teknic brand, I thinks its somehow undervalued. I have Alpinestars and also megabucks Dainese 2-pc suit, but for hot summer weather, I like the Teknic the most, as it fits well and it's not that heavy. After all, it's made by the same subcontract manufacturers in Vietnam and China, who make gear for the other brands. So, to answer your question, you have not made a wrong choice.

I also found this intresting . The Tag . Look at the bottom right .There is a Tiny Tiny sticker . MADE IN PAKISTAN. This suit came with 6 tags on it . Only one had a little sticker on the bottom .

I had the joe rocket on (maybe diff).......And then I could not get it oFF. With in 5 min the suit and I became one . I felt that this suit would have provided the most protection but It was to Hot and way to HEAVY. If the suit is hot like this in the store what would it be like on the Track ? For me it would have just became a piece of safety gear that takes up closet space. This TekNic is a 2 piece, so I know I will get the most use out of it. I hope I never have to test it. But u know sh.t happens.

First I would like to say CHEERS to Steve14 for his sharp eye. I bought this suit that is shown in the above thread, The vendor sold me what I thought was a great suit at a fair price. But, what I did not know was the jacket was made of cow leather and the pants were goat leather. And believe me it's not easy to tell the difference. It was not until Steve pointed out the difference in the stitching that I realized I been duped. Today I Returned to the vendor and he made things right, but had I worn them ... well you know. The tags on these suits are very tiny and only in the washing instructions does it tell you what KIND of leather. So buyer Beware. Thanks again steve.

No, I just exchanged the pants for the sport Pant. I still do not know if this mix up was on purpose to make a sail or it was just a honest mistake. All is good Now. Cheers.

Just out of curiosity-what does it matter if it's goat or cow?As long as it's comfy and well made? Are you referring to WHERE it's made?(as opposed to "Michigan"-that's just the Vendor isn't it?)I've got a River Road leather jacket-very good quality(the Racer X model)-Made in Pakistan!!!

From what I understand it is based on how tough or tear resistant the leather is. Kangaroo is # 1 cow # 2 and goat # 3. My position was simple. I got a great price because I got the pants that were $102 cheaper. Which in the end the vendor did charge me to switch. Still the most comfy.
