Wednesday June 24 was the worst day of my life.

Let me tell you guys a small bit about me. My name is Rick Romans and and I am a service Repair foreman for a elevator company in Toronto Ontario. I have been in the construction of elevators for nine years, then move on to service repairs for the remainder of my 23 years of service. I specialize in high rise high speed gearless machines, Bearings,motors, electrical cables and new electronics. On Wednesday, my good friend and co-worker fell 30 floors to his death. He is a farther of five girls. To explain matters a little better, I am also one of the leading investigators into the cause of his death. I'm sharing this with you guys because I'm sitting alone right now and I do not know who else to tell...... To tell you guys my heart is broken would be a under statement. His five girls all spoke at their dads funeral today and their tears could have filled a river. I am crushed by what has happened and am at a loss for the words to help those who need it the most.I would have posted a link but I just can't bear to look it up. Thanks for giving me a place to vent. Sad times.

I would request being taken off the investigation. If an employer does an investigation it is usually to avoid paying a settlement and blaming the employee's negligence hence not their problem. I would hate to see how your name on a report could change the dynamic of the relationship you have with his wife and daughters. Only trying to save you the possibility of more hurt from this in the future.

I feel for you Romans, thoughts and prayers sent your direction.

Man that is terrible, and I know how i feels to lose a close friend. I wish I could say something to make you feel better, but I know that nothing but time heals that kind of sorrow.
So I will say this, keep your chin up Bro. Take a day or two off, go riding and think about the good times you had with him. Then pick it up and keep on doing what you love to do. He would not want you to be sad for very long.
And keep and eye on his family for him cause you know he would want you to.

Be strong and carry on Bro!

What a wonderful, wonderful thought. I think that is all you can do, Rom. Things that happen just happen and helping your friends family would be bringing back some of the good in all of your lives that has been lost. My condolences to you and each member of both of the families that suffered this tragic loss.

the pain is unbearable right now romans i'm sure. life seems too much to handle sometimes. i wish all the best for you, your family, and your friend's family. any time you need to vent, you know you can come here. you got a lot of people here that care about you. the added prayers never hurt either.
