Why do you believe that all the way forward is better, Dogo?

Pertaining to the Gilles, there's nowhere for it to go.
Pertaining to bike handling, quicker turn in and bigger power wheelies.

Oh yeah! now I see in your pic. If the axle holder is All the way forward, it is braced against the framework of the adjuster. Very similar concept to my idea of using the OEM screw/locknut as a brace.

I was afraid of having minimum wheel base so I kept an extra link on my cvhain when I installed the new one last winter. Wish I woulda just went with the # of links specified by you and others. I can cut a link out if I can get my hands on another pin.

That sounds like it would work to me... and if that's what it takes to make you confident with the adjusters, do it.

Yeah, man. That will do it. The all the way forward position is just as good if not better so I will go for that soon as I get around to it. If you have a thin locknut, you could prolly brace the adjusters with both the bolt and the all the way forward position. Only thing, some day (I don't know when) that EK ZZZ chain will stretch a little and it will need to be adjusted. The all the way forward position can't be a lasting solution. ...unless you are willing to just change the chain instead of adjust---which would be okay if it lasts a couple years at least.

As my chain stretches, I just go up another tooth on the rear sprocket.

Haven't busted yet through wheelies and WOT. I think this makes it safe but what a PITA...I would not install this and do the safety mod unless you have a chgain that has stopped stretching. BIG job to adjust the chain with this dohicky on there.

Also, installing the wheel is impossible to do unless you take off the counterpart on the back of the swingarm first. Not too big a deal but if I was at a race track....I'm sure I would not want that. These are bling. Pure bling.

I must be missing something here. Will someone please tell me the benefits of fitting these in the first place. What is wrong with the OE adjusters? I find they work fine and are obviously many times stronger. You still have to slacken the wheel nut whichever you use.

Gilles claims that you can align the wheels much more accurately. The adjustment marks are easier to read and in smaller increments but that does not ensure perfect wheel alignment. There is no guarantee that the swing arm is perfectly symmetrical. There are no points on the bike to measure and compare axle centers to on both sides. The only way to get it perfect is the string method and I doubt that really makes a lot of difference over just eyeballing the marks.

I find they work fine and are obviously many times stronger.

I think with the safety mod, the kts adjusters are just as strong as the OEM adjuster block....if not slightly more so...but what PITA. Pro-Bolt makes some nice anodized axle blocks if you want to bling it up and still go with the OEM chain tension adjustment method.
