I have a Annitori RL Shifter that want shift when I am riding my ZX14R 2012 bike. It works when I have the bike on the bike stand some what but its not giving me the kill signal that I need at all.Do anyone have any ideals.

I have the HM shifter which is pretty much the same thing with all the variety of kill time and sensitivity settings.

I am not sure what the kill signal is?? Must be an annitori feature. My first thought was that you need to choose a higher sensitivity setting. The Annitori has three settings, does it not? Kill time is hardwired at 65 ms, I believe.

I know the strain gauge self calibrates constantly. When the unit changes temperature, it contracts or expands enough that it needs to recalibrate itself for the minute change in the length of the strain gauge .

I highly recommend talking to that Annitori guy. He's got all the info. The phone # is on their site.

I would adjust the pegs so that your foot position is giving you the best leverage. Make sure that your shift rod length is 135mm and that the rod and the actuator are working at 90 degrees, not an offset angle. Nice straight back and forth. Make sure you are shifting deliberately and I would put the shifter in its softest or 'green' mode on its control unit. Once I had it set up correctly I find it shifts amazingly well. My shifts are firm and positive. You will notice an abruptness in the 1-2 shift. Short gearing, big torque, always gonna be a little abrupt there. Unless at race load I just ease that shift a little in terms of positive throttle and she shifts great. The more aggressive the throttle app, the firmer the shift. Hope some of that helped!

I don't feel any less sure footed with my Vortex rearsets than I was with the stock shift lever and pegs. However, If the rearsets are adjusted high, it takes more of an effort to shift. x10 if you wear boots.

I was apprehensive to shift without the clutch at first and so I was pussy footing it. That really is asking for the shifter to stick in false neutral between gears, especially at high rpm. I find that I need to be certain I feel the lever hit the stop when I lift up with my toe. ..So let's add converting the rearsets to GP shift pattern in with the tips to maximize clutchless shifting performance. Downward pressure to upshift has to be a lot easier.

That is a good tip , C. I had the shift rod bracket that clamps on the shift shaft angled back a little because the Vortex long rod was not quite long enough the pegs at max height and at the rearmost position. It still worked but I can see how if you adjust that bracket backward or forward on the splines to make up for the length of the shift rod, you are loosing leverage.

I also have the Annitori RL Quick shifter. Been using it on my ZX10 Track bike for a few years. Just moved it off the ZX10 and installed it on the ZX14. A couple of things you have to remember when riding. It will cause you to change your riding habits in these area's for it to work well.

1). It requires you to be on the throttle. Does not shift well with light throttle and low RPMS, works best above 6k rpms and giving it gass.
2). If you blip the throttle like you normally would with doing clutchless upshifts it won't shift well or at all
3). you must be firm with the shift pedal when shifting
4). Pin that throttle and press that shift lever and it'll shift as smooth as butter, You'll think you have anutomatic transmission.

casper, I have my HM shifter set at 60 ms killtime and 50% sesitivity. I have the Gen1 14 which is different from your 14r but To me, the clutchless shifts seem even more reliable at lower rpm. I surmise that when the motor is really spinning fast, it is less forgiving of a gentle nudge on the lever. Like you indicate, you have to be firm with your shift but seems even more important at high rpm on my bike. Also, I have on occasion let off on the gas asI do when clutch shifting and the the HM didn't seem to mind at all. Only did that a few times though.

With my shifter, I find lower rpm shifts to be more forgiving of a gentle nudge of the lever. To answer your question, I find the low rpm shifts to be NO MORE difficult than using the clutch. I still suggest a firm shift but especially at high rpm because it is a LOT more embarrassing to miss a shift when you are going fast.

If you do miss a shift and find yourself in false N, pull the clutch and shift again immediately before the engine revs down. If you wait a second, you better just pull the clutch and roll to the side of the road and click it into 1 again. If you miss a gear and know how to match speeds between the engine and the transmission, you can pull the clutch and click it up to the next gear on a roll. Try it out at normal rpm on a road with little traffic. It's not hard...I just want to prepare you for "what if."

I'll say this though, the roads are rough and there is still a lot of gravel and bumps where i live and I prefer to use the clutch over surfaces like that. NOt because it is any easier or more difficult but because I don't always like to zip right over roads like that. The quick shifter makes the bike move along QUICK, even at low rpm. No pause, no opportunity to choose to glide off power a moment with the clutch pulled in.

Exactly Rook, time across distances seems faster simply because we are now ALWAYS feeding in thrust. Definitely a riding style change. Certainly more aggressive. My riding style was lacking a little of that. Lol.

Did 200 miles this weekend with it installed. So much smoother than on my zx10 while shifting. As long as im In The throttle its so smooth. But the way this beast moves out I run out of room to fully enjoy it before traffic gets in the way..hitting the back roads this weekend if weather permitting.

Man! Just rode to FranktheTanks house in the rain, when ya bang off a 1-2 upshift under hard throttle she just creams the tire loose in second, then 3rd, :))) lol. Absolutely love the shifter! Freakin thrust is sooooo addicting.
