Velocity Stacks

I think I understand what these things give you - they increase dynamic pressure of the air coming into the intake.

This seems like a good thing, as they help the engine breath better, I've heard that you can put these things on w/o having to remap or get a Power Commander.

What I don't understand is: if they increase the amount of air on the intake won't they also make your AFR more lean? Doesn't that argue for getting a Power Commander and remapping if you get velocity stacks?

Puzzled...

Any answers are additionally details would be appreciated.

Thanks,
-Dennis

Not sure this is correct. I am thinking it is still the same amount of air, what is being changed is how it is being delivered. Your moving horse power from the top end of the range down to the bottom or vice versa. Hub should be here shortly, he schooled me on this awhile back. This is my Coles notes version.

You got it, Romans. Hub schooled me awhile back too.
I'm running the 25mm's and hardly noticed a change. The 14 already pulls like a freight train in the low/mid. So if you're like me, you'll be too busy holdin' on to notice too when you crack WOT.

I GOT THE SHORT STACKS FOR THE TOP END..... I RODE WITH THEM ONE DAY BEFORE I WAS OFF TO MY DYNO GUY(MR. MOTEC) AND I FELT A SLIGHT DIFFERENCE.ONCE I GOT THE BIKE BACK, AFTER THE TUNING AND CUSTOM MAP IT REALLY TOOK OFF IN THE HIGH GEARS MAKING IT EVEN THAT MUCH MORE HARDER TO CATCH ME.......LOL.....SITTING WITH 179+ HP ON THE REAR WHEEL..RULING THE ROAD FEELS GOOD.

The bigger motors really take full advantage of the shorts stacks. IT really only shows minimal gains on the dyno however every little bit helps as long as your going in the wright direction. Combination is key just like in auto's this is why all the perf, auto parts offer head/cams,intake etc in a combo''it works. ................Bill
