Hi guys,

What do you use to clean the rear wheel? I have been using GooGone but am curious if there is anything better out there (available in US). GooGone works fine but some of those chain wax takes bit of time to remove.

I asked this question on another forum about a month ago and was told WD-40 or Pledge.
I tried the Pledge, and yes, it worked good, but took some scrubbing. Of course it makes it easier next time since it has a coat of wax now.
I've never seen better looking polished wheels after doing it.

Yes, lemon pledge. It works for cleaning the whole bike too.

Holy Sxxt! Now that is one hellba clean wheel! I must try Pledge tonight and I know it will make my garage smell better.

Lemon pledge = Tire lube installer.

Any tire rubber dressing = will go up against a pledge of confidence and a tire lube installer to boot. I said clean rims, plastic switches, mirrors, but paint like clear coat? No, better off with a wax.

Armorall = Smells like tire dressing in a different package... wink-wink.

I always used Black Magic Titaneum high performance wheel cleaner. It's a very strong soap. Spray it on a wet rag and swab away the lube. Rinse the wheels well with water and douse your tires, rotors and calipers too. Go for a ride. The Pledge sounds like a nice finishing touch but for all the crud that gets stuck on wheels, I feel better using something I can slosh on with a lot of water rather than rub all that dirt around on the surface.

Just about any kind of spray wax works but I'm like the rest, use Pledge. Wheels smell lemony sweet! LOL

Go to Amazon and look for product called Wheel Wax, comes in a black jar with silver lettering. After you clean your wheels good use the Wheel Wax and they stay a LOT cleaner. The Wheel Wax has something in it that repels brake dust and other crud, been using it for years on bikes and autos, don't have to clean wheels nearly as often.

I simply went with a Gallon of K&N filter cleaner...basically...it's a soap solution.Spray it one there...wipe off with a dry cotton cloth...works excellent.Just enough strength to remove ANY oil,grease...dead bugs...all of it with NO problem.EASY to work with.Sprays into those nooks in the wheel spokes...you know the ones...lifts that muck right out...

Then there's a strong solution of "Tide", coupla' kitchen rags, coupla' beers for me as the supervisor of this highly complex operation, and making my 16 year old son do it so he can get some more time in the pick-up for his D/L test... LOL!!!

OK, I went to Target but there were two types of Pledge. One is a cleaner and the other is "wood" cleaner/polisher. Which one are you using? I assume the cleaner one...

Just plain old Lemon Pledge. You can also use just about any brand of spray detailer wax, I use Turtle Wax or Pledge either one. I like to use Turtle Wax on the windscreen to take off bugs, they come off easy and the wax makes the next time even easier.

One advantage to lubing with oil. I can clean my rims with whatever I wash the bike with. Or even just wipe them off with a damp rag.

I spray the whole bike down with straight simple green, let it sit for a couple minutes, then hose it all off. Works like a charm.

WD40 - Cuts the grease works the best I've found....

I think just for the heck of it...I'm gonna buy one of those 'oil cans' thingies...fill with that recommended oil Kawasaki says to lube the chain with...and just see how well it works.Certainly can't hurt....

It slings off and makes a mess, but works good. When I got the ZX14, I had to buy a can of lube. Pretty spoiled by the Connie with shaft drive. I went with Chain Wax. It's hard to clean off, unlike other products. Even though I've bought synthetic lubes that were hard to clean before. I think the best stuff I've found is genuine Kawasaki racing chain lube. But my stealership didn't have any on hand...

You'll love it. It works most awesome, and cleans up easy.
My dealer gripes because he has to buy a bunch of it to get a deal, but it's by far the best stuff I've found.

I might just buy a case of it and be done.

I'm not sure I trust the Wax. It's the first can of it I've tried. And it's a beeotch to clean off.

I've been using chain wax for many seasons...virtually no fling if applied to a warm chain and allowed to sit(set)for 1/2 hour to overnight.Using that K&N air filter cleaner...(or any soap solution)takes any spots right off.But still I'm gonna check and see if my dealer might have this Kawa lube...sounds good to me.

Trust me...the chain wax really will not fling if applied this way.But applying and riding right away...you will have a mess on yer rim.

The thing I like about the Kawi lube is, my chain lasts a long time. That's why we use the stuff, isn't it?
It sprays on thin, and really soaks in. I am with you all the way about spraying it on when the chain is warm, after a ride. I've been trading in my chain driven bikes at about 30,000 miles, and the chain and sprockets have been perfect. I still don't trust anything else. I hear about people with worn out noisy chains with 20,000 miles. I don't wanna be that guy. I'd rather have a dirty rear wheel, than a worn out chain.
