I wanted to see if anyone on this board ha gone to Bob Carpenter and had him do one of his 210-220 packages? If so what were your results? Any issues or problems.... overheating? Still starts no problems with one battery? Thanks in advance

Carpenter builds some really strong motors. I think their HP numbers are fairly conservative..

The higher price is drive in and out. The other price is just for top end work, ship in and out.

My local race shop bought the parts for mine from Muzzy's.. Sent the block off to be bored and plated but other then that he's doing it all. I assure you, I have less in mine then they are asking.

Is one price Drive in and Drive out?You drive your bike into my stall and take a seat. We have on the shelf, a whole top end ready to go. We just pull your old pistons off, install the new pistons. You need those special pistons, because the new cam lift will find it harder to tag each other when you float the valves missing shift say. We also set the shim clearance, wipe the bike down, pay the cash ear ya go. We keep your low mile parts is the exchange. I am not saying this company, but just saying you are getting some head that might be the best flowing head is yours.
... or is the price below cheaper for other reasons? Exchange ? Mail only ? How do you guys read this
This way, you mark your head and barrel, making sure said company knows those belong to you. You have high mile head, then it is a crap shoot either way. If she is well maintained and you know every cam tower stud was never over torqued in that head, then you want that head back. You are willing to wait to have it hogged out for racing only.
______________________________________________________________--
Do you see how the porting cuts, part of where the valve guide's nose was protruding down, disrupting the flow? That shortens the guide's life, 2-fold. Big cams wear guides faster. Guide, giving stem stability, is going to compromise wear at that type [shaved away] guide. Short guide has less drag moving in the nose part, but accelerates the thrust action, elongating the guide. Smoke on lift is the sucking down of oil in the chamber. You want to go fast, then this is big and hogged away porting.
Big air, all out drag or you stumble on the street with this setup. Porting is an art. Guys filled in ports and blended from there. Difference can be as much as 7 HP between heads. Not car heads, bike heads.

So what are you saying......you dont trust Carpenter Racing???? I dont believe they have built a solid history on screwing customers...If someone brings in a bike/engine and their is a whole in the piston due to detination...turbo, the bottle etc...I have to believe they will inspect the core and if there are any problems, the person dropping off the engine/bike will have to shell out more money as they wont take in a bad core and pass it on to another customer.

What Hub said was:

9SF Said:
So what are you saying......you dont trust Carpenter Racing????Is what you said. I did not say I did not trust, CR. I'm talking about how I wound up working in the shop for free, pitting for some defunct company way back when, trying to get my foot in the door. I saw the process of said company may have learned from the best is what I have experienced. The bike was never without parts if say they were on the phone controlling the, "your bike is almost done, give us another weak end we swap out fresh parts coming in we keep big name riders out front."
Is that done today? I have no clue. I am not at a flow bench reading better heads than what is on the race bike sort of how you weed out a good head and a flat cylinder or a cylinder bored more to spec, one top end dials in better than what the company runs is get it?

I've dealt with Bob for years and been to his shop many, many times.
He is one of the very best in the business.
His old engine assembly guy, Steve Knecum, now builds LSR record holding motors and uses Bob's heads.
He's simply one of the very best.
