Glad he was ok. From what he said, his tire slipped and after that, he probably was afraid to lean so he went straight.

That guy could have one HUGE helicopter bill. After hearing what happened to Kruz, I don't think I would have signed off on that for a broken arm. The helicopter company charged 3x as much as the insurance co deemed necessary and paid for. LOL The helicopter finally just left Kruz alone after making all sorts of legal threats and that should tell you something about the fee they were charging. I wish I had his luck.

That's in my backyard riding area. Squids like this eat it every day and twice on the weekends up there going to fast on public roads that are next to rocky crumbly cliffs. There is always crap on the roads and in the corners and you just never know where. See all of the opposing traffic? He's lucky a car didn't collect him going wide.

Pretty crazy my guess if the bike didn't get stuck in the tree probably would've became a permanent land fixture.

That's life on 2 wheels. Yeah, speed was a factor and rocky roads but the truth is we're all one slip away on 2 wheels.

VEERRY fortunate.he escaped a broken back or neck.split second reflexes.he had no time to do ANYTHING.he went straight...that's really all he could do.at the speed he was going anyway.physics ALWAYS wins.
if you look at the road surface right where you see him drop his legs,it appears there was a hole in the pavement.that could easily create a high side or skid momentarily.as the guy filming passes that spot, you can see something not right on the pavement...it looks like a hole.i think this is virtually the same scenario that Kruz had with his wreck.gotta watch the road ahead.

I used to ride up there years ago when I was stationed at Tustin. I loved riding up there. Back in the 80's when the state was still beautiful.

Out here in California I joined CalStar. It's a policy that provides helicopter transport all over the state for medical emergencies. I made sure it covers Redding near where my retirement house is. It was $60 a year for me, my wife AND son. I call that a good deal.

I looked into these, they are not policies, they are memberships, and found
it's a gamble if you will be covered or not.

The air service that the EMS service calls has to be in Calstar's "network"
and "available". It's up to the EMS as to which service they call. (probably
the one that bought their kid a new bicycle)

A quick look in the Redding area shows 4+ air services available
and only 1 (Reach Air) of the 4+ is in the Calstar network. If any other service
is called you are not covered by the membership.

It's the same story here in the Phoenix area. There's at least a dozen air services
and no single membership that covers all of them.

In network = covered
Out of network = not covered
