The Cblast Flash
06/05/14 5:08 PM

This thread is being posted as a result of the increased interest and demand for info. Thank you all so much for the continued support! It has been a lifelong goal to bring performance to the masses! We are doin it in new and exciting ways, and I could not have done any of it without y'all's continued support and general awesomeness!

Cost:
$400- Gen II ZX-14R
$300- Gen I ZX-14
I can take paypal and my email is : PredatorRaceTeam@gmail.com Check or money order is fine too.

I would recommend simply removing the ecu and packing it in a box with a return shipping label and a note on exhaust setup. When I receive an ECU, we usually flash it and have it shipped back out within a day. USPS Has flat rate boxes for about $5 that get to me from anywhere in the US in about two days. Great deal.

The Cblast flash:
1. Secondary throttle plates wide open by 2400 rpm
2. Air / Fuel map is fixed ie - adjusted the ecu's target AFR for maximum torque from idle to redline.
3. Ignition maps - adjusted the ignition using timing advances and smoothing with the goal of maximum performance without sacrificing any longevity or drivability.
4. Removed top speed limiter
5. Removed safety map (flashed the completed full power map over the safety map, it switches over to its own full power map seamlessly see!;) this occurs in a milli-sec, unnoticeable.
6. Allowed for switching between TC modes on the fly and It will now remember the last TC mode used!
7. All TC settings and the way TC works is much smoother (this is due to the work on smoothing all mapping)
8. RPM limit raised to 11500rpm (shift light can be set to 11000)
9. Increased fuel economy and cooler running.
10. She revvs like a liter bike and under loads sounds different. More aggressive. A lot more F1 carlike.
11. Low power mode is smoother and actually gets a little better gas mileage than stock. Eco mode works very well.
No stone left unturned.
This flash has taken over 60 pulls on the dyno to build and we have verified every single aspect of it. It was also proven on a second dyno by Mike Velasco. One of the worlds pre-eminent motorcycle mechanics. I have thousands of miles on it now and I love it as much today as I did when we first flashed the ecu. With just slips my 2012 ZX-14R 'Priscilla', made 212.22HP. :)) (A few little details like good fuel and a clean and light drive set-up helped)
If you are unsatisfied in any way I will make it right.
This eliminates the need for a dyno tune or a PCV. My tuning partner Nels and I understand how all of the TC intervention using ignition and fuel is designed to work and we simply expanded and what Kawasaki gave us. The bike uses its onboard sensors to maintain focus towards the desired AFR. This works equally well with slip-on or a full exhaust system or stock for that matter. There is no way for any tuner to craft a tune that makes more power or torque. The motor is capable of a theoretical maximum amount of horsepower and torque without mechanical upgrades such as camshaft. I absolutely believe we achieved that mathematical maximum that the ZX14 can provide. No more air or fuel or ignition or any combo of the three would achieve a greater overall result.
95% of maximum torque is available from 4500rpm to redline. The feel at speed through the gears is stunning. When holding Wide Open Throttle and working up through the gears she barks the tire and lifts the front end when shifting hard to third or fourth. Second gear can melt the tire at will with TC off. In mode 1 I get nice smooth kinda slippy drives off corner leaving light burn marks. In the wet in TC mode 2 aggressive throttle in 1st or 2nd still delivers a nice smooth 12-18" power wheelie. Satisfaction guaranteed. If any customer would like more clear or defined details about the specs of the flash, I welcome a phone call.

Here is what people are saying about the flash:

"I just got back from Loring Land Speed event and my 2014 zx14R
with a CBlast modified ECU did 208 MPH and 14 runs over 200
To me that was money well spent!!!!"
- Capt10ed, 09/03/14

"The midrange seemed to really light up, with power wheelies in the first three gears. I'm 250 in full race leathers, so this is no small feat. The power through the middle was smooth, fat and inexorable. Absolutely perfect for driving this pig off the apexes.
The top end, well, is the top end. It feels like the natural extension of the midrange, with stunning power all the way to the bumped redline. No hesitations, flat spots or stumbles. Just face-melting power, for as deep as you can hold on. This bike will reel in ANYTHING down a straightaway, but if something like a new 10R or a Panigale gets a better drive than you, it'll be a battle.
After a few sessions on the track, I rolled it over to the mobile dyno trailer for a quick spin.
Horsepower: 201.55
Torque: 118.45
The dyno has a safety shut-off at 205 mph. Mjölnir shut off the dyno."
- TRAILBOSS, 6/16/14

"TO the site: Stay tuned guys. I am not done and I promise that CBLAST is not done. I have no reason to be anything but transparent in my findings. If you think you can disprove me then get a lane."
- Maverick1441, 6/15/14

"I have to say that Cblast's flash update has really kinda blown me away.... The pull climbing the rpm scale is really amazing... Thank You C for the kick ass ride quality and Performance....Fuel mileage was quite stunning as well...and engine temps Very good..."
- Grn14, 6/3/14

"Now the meat. There's a noticeable improvement starting at about 2500rpm - 5000rpm, so much smoother, VERY controllable in that area for those of you that run your bike towards the lower end in corners, I would say that if you have just "reasonable" throttle control you're gonna reduce the chance of a nice, slip-bite-highside by way over 50%. From 5000rpm to around 8000rpm if you can picture the surface of glass, it's just a little smoother than that, absolutely PERFECT for those faster sweeping corners that are so much fun to take at say, 120-140, you'll feel like an expert in no time because of it. From 8000rpm to limiter, think GODZILLA!! Geeezus guys, it took my cheeks two days to get all the way back to my face. It truly pulls so smooth and hard that my seat looked like I had put a cigar out on it! LOL"
- SicNinja, 4/22/14

"Feels like a differnt bike doesn't it :) It so smooth, but deceptive .....
Second gear rollon wheelies with ease, but yea, don't wack the throttle hard in first,
Or your going over ! Third pulls like NEVER before, and there is power and torque
EVERYWHERE, even in 5th and 6th cruising ......
And now with my new Tires, it's even better ! The way the power is delivered coming out of
Corners, it feels like a lighter bike, I don't know how to explain that ......
I swear I got light headed today from the acceleration ! No joke !"
- CarAbuser, 6/03/14

"The Cblast flash truly is ALL you need.No PC5....I had a Brock's/Guhl flash on my first 14R.....and a PC5(with Brock's mapping)....gotta say....the Cblast flash is light years ahead of those guys.EVERYTHING just runs better.;)You get Cblasted...you won't believe it;)"
- Grn14, 06/04/14

"The only issue is you will have to watch your speed more often / harder. The bike just wants to be fed more and more throttle. MPG is up with the speed as well. Stop worrying and get Cblasted."
- Fatsix, 06/04/14

"I sent my ECU to Sebastian with high hopes but knowing that sometimes things don't live up to the hype, especially in the motorcycle performance world.
This isn't one of those times....
My hopes were exceeded....by an immeasurable amount. It is a different bike, it pulls so much harder, especially in the mid-range. I won't bore you by saying what everyone else has already said....but what you have read is true....only when you actually experience it, it is even better.
Thanks Cblast for your product and your professionalism during our dealings.
Best,
Troy

I'm a disciple of the CBLAST way!! Bring on the power! Feels like a dragon whose hot breath waits for you to grab that right handlebar with your gloved hand...and the moment you touch it the beast cracks a fleeting grin before unleashing an unholy hell-fire brigade upon all your senses and instantly vaporizes the contact between rubber and road. Flames pour from its mouth as the noise overwhelms you and amidst all the chaos you can just catch a glimpse of the ZX14R's demonic soul glowing...

But really. Sh|ts fast.

@cblast....i'm just really learning what the 'flash' is all about so this may seem like a stupid question, but is this something that will work on an 07zx14??

Absolutely! I have a gen I version of the Cblast flash that is good for 180hp. No powercommander or other piggyback necessary and will run smooth and creamy strong.

So what are your credentials? How long have you been tuning bikes? What guarantee do you offer? As of March 2013 you joined this site and seem to be the only sponsor. I have been using Ivan's stuff for 20 years and know that he knows what he is doing, with that being said is the ZX14 the first bike you have ever tuned?

2015 30th Anniversary Edition 14R #250-> Brock's CT Ceramic Coated, Ivan's ECU Flash V2 & Map, Block off plates, HM Strain gauge quickshifter, GPR Damper, Spiegler lines, Muzzy's Sliders, Pazzo levers, Rizoma Next Fluid Tanks, DDM Ultra 5500K HID's Low & Hi, DB Windscreen, Cox Radiator guard, gold titanium bolts... too many to list at this point

I have always done my own thing and gone my own way. But what we found inside modern ECU tuning needed to be brought forth. I care not what anyone's credentials are. Performance counts. What I do is different. What we provide is different. Ignition is tied to fuel and stp maps right? Read ur manual. If so should you splice in and lie to fuel to get a result? If you do, what happens to the maps tied in? Do you know? I do? I have proven it. Period. Tuning, riding, and on the dyno with Nels and Mike Velasco. That says it all. Men that are the industries finest have proven it already. I don't give a thin whistle what some old school industry rep says, unless they know, they better learn. The ECU IS A FINITE MATHEMATICAL TOOL. Period. I guarantee satisfaction or I will flash ur ecu back to whatever state ya had it in for free. This is not an upgrade you won't notice. Once ya feel the bike performing with no piggybacks involved, performing as designed, but maximized to its potential, you would never look back.

Not being confrontational. Either the tuner knows how to work the tool, or they don't. When using any piggyback, the lie to the ecu happens, the ecu responds, the combustion event had been occurring. Time. Reactionary. Flawed. Change it. Make it seek optimum. Use the bikes onboard sensors as a tool to continue to seek optimum. As designed by the factory. This all seems simple to me. So we do it. Please don't take my response as a rebuff. Take it as something to consider. What if I'm right... Oh shit, whole bunch are riding it and think so.

Gentleman, before anyone else decides to call out, or question cblast's abilities, please be cognizant of this dyer situation... It's a beautiful sunny day here in Omaha Nebraska with temps hovering around 78 degrees.. why is this dire you ask? The more time cblast spends on the interwebs conversing with evil doers, means the less riding time I have!!

So for the love of all things holy Sebastian, send me back my ecu Flashed so I can quit ripping apart this bike looking for something else to mod while its down..

I mean, not that I have the right to bitch about same day turn around or anything! Lol

Cblast, I have the Muzzy slipons like you had on your bike. I saw the Muzzy M10 you just put on. I fell in love with that pipe and I just ordered one. (You're costing me money). Before you came out with your flash, I had my ECU reflashed from Guhl. Questions: Can you get into an ECU that's been reflashed by him? I heard he puts a lock on it so nobody can get into it but him. Also, with the M10 I'm getting, will the bike run too lean without the AF being reflashed in the ECU? I had a 2000 ZX12R with an Akrapovich full exhaust and a 50 hp shot of nitrous (dry shot). I put over 12,000 miles on the bike. I had it for 6 years and it always ran great. I NEVER had a power commander on the bike. That's why I asked you about my 2012 ZX14R running too lean with the M10. My ZX12R sure ran great without any added fuel management (PC). I suppose the ECU made up the difference.
Thanks for any help.

Hey Mowkaw! You are gonna absolutely love the M10! She sounds so like a muscle car at idle it's sic. And when you rev her, watch out for an addicting scream! And I hear ya on the 12. Kawi set the 12 up pretty aggressive. Awesome bike!
With the way the 14R fuels and runs she does end up a little lean when going from slips to a full system. It's a very big flow rate change. I ran Priscilla for a couple days with the flash I had in her with no problems at all, but that was the slips version of the Cblast flash. We made a flash adjustment for the full system and Priscilla is now running the exact same flash numerically to the dot as say Maverick or Cornelius. They both run 4-1 systems and the flow rates are close enough that she is flawless. Within that 1% buffer.
To answer your question, YES, I have no problem at all flashing a Guhls locked ecu. Encryption is math. We are fairly strong in that area. ;) last couple of Guhls ecu's we flashed over, the customers were very happy with the improved results! I would be happy to help ya out sir and we have an absolutely perfect flash for a 4-1 full system! The M10 is my personal favorite pipe. I love that look and I have always been a Muzzy guy. Just personal preference. Power per dollar value is awesome. Just that sound! And the power is best described in one word... HUGE. The M10 has big headers, big flow, strong low end, a midrange that is just hurtfull and a hard slam to redline with no dips or drops in the power curve. The ignition mapping and smoothing in the Cblast flash adds a level of creamy refinement while accenting the brutal accelerative nature of this girl wih a full system. Oh, and did I mention the sound???

I was planning to take my 2012 Concours 14 ABS to Guhl in a few months, he is about an hour away.

Don Guhl pioneered reverse-engineering the ZX14 and ZG14 ECUs. He has developed a great flash for a ZG14 (C14) with stock exhaust (we don't like loud, we like stereo XM and phone/bike-to-bike conversations)which also opens up the secondary butterflies much earlier and keeps them open as long as the throttle is being opened.

How would you compare yourself to a pioneer in Kawasaki (etc.) ECU mapping and flashing?

I have seen the product he is sellin. I have seen inside it. I would not compare myself or the Cblast flash to his. I know our flash is better. Period. Don't take my word for it. Hit up guys like CarAbuser or Grn14, he was very happy with the upgrade. I believe Grn still has several flashes from all leading competitors. But I know which one he likes the best! That's the cool thing about this industry. Now there are options. We can seek out answers and find them. Reputations and history don't build quality flashes inside a modern ecu. Math and dyno time with proof to back it up does. That is a fact.

Thanks for the reply C. I ordered the exhaust from 58 cycle. Don't know why, but they said it'll take a couple of weeks to get here. Maybe Muzzy's selling so many of them that they can't keep up.
About what would you charge me to set up my ECU AF for full exhaust? Guhl already did everything else, raised the rpm's, changed timing in 1st 3 gears, having the TC setting stay at what it was at when restarting the bike, changing it on the fly, etc.
Thanks again.

I'll have to go in and do a full flash for you so that she all works together as she should in the cblast flash bud. We can't do a 'partial' flash. Thats like being a little bit pregnant. We will not splice our work to anyone else's. It doesn't work that way unfortunately. Price will be $400 and the results will speak for themselves sir!
