I was wondering if anyone has gone to smoked out lenses for turn signals and tail light. I have seen some things that are not bright enough to be visible through the dark lenses and wanted some opinions and suggestions. 2012 zx14r Thanks!

I know this isn't exactly what you were asking for but I am in the process of blacking out the inside of the lenses. The chrome reflector part or whatever you want to call it. Fatsix did it too. He is the one that actually gave me the idea on what to use to do it so I give him all the credit. I had wanted to do it for a while but wasn't sure what to use to do it. It comes out looking great and I don't think it's illegal so you won't have to worry about getting a ticket or anything. Sorry if this doesn't help.

blacking out the reflector is a great idea. I would give it a light shot of Nightshades on the inside of the lens, too. I have always heard that Nightshades stuff worked well. The aftermarket blackout lenses can be too dark. I have that on my busa and the tail running light / brake light is not visible on a sunnny day.

Rook, fatsix filled me in on a good idea by telling me to use plasti dip spray instead of actual paint. That way if you dont like the way it looks or if you mess it up all you have to do is peel the stuff off. I used it and it worked pretty good. I actually didn't even have to tape off a couple spots. I just spayed it and then peeled off where I didnt want any at. lol

got all mine off 58cycle.com. you can probably shop round for little cheaper price but I've always had good service through them so it was worth it.

To make the signal light to act as running lights and turn signals I just replaced the stock bulb and bulb holder to the signal and brake light bulb and holder from my local auto supply store. Cost is about 20-40 bucks depending on which style you choose. It will come with 3 wires. 2 wires are for the regulal turn signal. The third wire i tapped into the power wire from the small running light in the head lights for the front and the power wire to the tail light in the rear.
Also for those that don't know the signal and tail lights are the same for 06- 14 zx14. The signal lights are also the same as the 06/07 zx10.. I have used the us and china ones quality is about the same. Just be careful when installing rear tail lights. One corner or the other chipps easily. Gets caught on the rear side plastic ..
