Custom Shorty Exhaust
05/15/12 4:58 PM

Have you ever seen anyone make their own shorty exhaust from the stock mid pipes? I was a voodoo exhaust but cant bring myself to spend $600+ on a set of shorty exhaust. I really do not need a baffle so what does the voodoo exhaust have to make it worth the money?

I haven't seen any made out of the mid pipes. I did however buy a set of "slip ones" that slip onto the header pipe where the mid pipe does. They are about 7.5 inches long and look like an auto exhaust tip with a baffle and race resonator welded inside. The welds are not very clean but they tuck so far up under the bike that you can not see them. They are very loud and have cool growl. They sound like a race car. After paying for them, I am sure they can be made at home for less than $100 bucks and better, if you are a good welder. I know I am going to get a lot of haters for admitting that I bought these but I like them for now.

Maddevil,
I am sure the whole town loves my new sound. I work 0800 to 1645 and get called in at all hours after that. I live on one side of town (small town) and drive through to my office on the other side and get a lot of looks. I am diggin it for now.

Where did you pick those up at dericrey? And did you notice anything change with your bike? like popping, idling ect?

BigBlack06,
Got them here shortys. No change that I can tell so far. Very little popping only on very hard deceleration. Idling is no different. The finish is a cured paint and since they are new (about 200 miles)I smell the new paint when they are hot (very faint). I assume that will go away with time but is not enough to be a bad thing. The sound while riding is loud since the are right below you. I get no hot feet or pegs. I removed the rear belly pan and bracket because I thought it looked better. That's all I can think of for now.
