Heli bars risers
08/23/12 6:28 AM

I just installed my Heli bar risers. Purchased from Indy Superbikes. They're a 3/4" rise. There definately is a difference, but with only one ride on them I'm not so sure that the stock height was even uncomfortable. So while I will probably leave them on, they did not make an "OMG!" difference. My only complaint is that there is a pretty ugly "hole" in the middle of the bar clamp now. Seems that for $80, they could includ some kind of plug....

I'd give them a 3 out of 5 stars.

The Gen Mars come with a nice plug. Very clean look.

Well, clearly I screwed up by buying the heli bars brand. :(

Mine are stacked...Helis on bottom with the GenMars on top. Hole is covered, and comfort difference is huge.

With the "stacked" set up did you have to change any cables or hoses? Also I guess you had to purchase longer mounting screws? I think the 1 3/4" rise would be great just wondering what's entailed on doing this mod. Thanks,Mike

Cables and hoses are stock, unmodified (although they are at their limit), and the brake reservior barely kisses the fairing at full lock. It does use longer bolts, but I'm not sure if one of the riser sets came with them or if the previous owner had to add them.

I'll try to take some pics whenever my work schedule permits me to get back home.

Here's the pics...

Heli's on bottom, GenMar's on top...

Without cap...

The GenMar's come with an aluminum "spacer" for the stock clip-ons to fill-in where they mounted to the forks ...

With both risers stacked, the throttle housing will need to be rotated to clear the fairing...

Brake and throttle cables have plenty of slack...

Shown w/o the caps...

Got a Set of Apex Risers...the only way to go on the 14r...fully adjustable for height, pitch, pull back, and angle of the bar to suit the rider.

Right brake hose needs to be increased 4 inches to accommodate this riser...but worth it.

Outstanding machine work.

Got my Gen Mar riser kit from Twisted Throttle. My brake line was barely long enough for the kit. No way I could stack another set without a new line or disconnecting that brake line holding bracket. I'm happy enough with it as is. The LSL kit would be sooooo nice but it just doesn't look good on the bike in my opinion.
I painted my fork cap/plugs metallic black and added a steering nut cap made from a PVC end. Velcro inside the cap so it goes on/off easy.
