Coast to Coast 2016
01/28/16 7:03 AM

Leaving Maryland on May 1st 2016, arriving Monterey CA 7 days later.

On the way out, stopping at the Grand Canyon and Roswell.

I'll spend a week with my old war buddy and his family, and then head back.

Going to stay in motels on the way out, pick up my camping trailer in Monterey, and then camp all the way back.

I think I'll have a week or two and then off to Tennessee for a MotoCampers rally, and then the COG National in Georgia. After the National, will spend a week in Myrtle Beach SC at a friends house, and use the time to find a place to move to.

And still lots of trips to do after that. :)

Is that an H2? I had a H2 exactly that color, dual front disk rotors too. Mine was all stock, though, that has been re-piped.

Yep, a 1972 H2. She's the love of my life!

Going to be doing a couple 9 hour days on the way out. Not my cup of tea, I don't like pushing that hard when I travel long distances.

To be sure, I have ridden non-stop from Mt. Snow VT to western Maryland, and from western Maryland to Tellico Plains, TN in one shot. Did one 10 hour day on the way to Eureka Springs Arkansas several years ago. But in my retirement I tend to take my time more often than not.

I just want to get to Monterey CA faster. When I get there I have to open up the TimeOut camping trailer, and set it up, and see if anything needs repair or cleaning. Some of my cast iron cookware may be a bit rusty if I didn't get it seasoned right the last time I put it away. Easy enough to fix, but will take a couple hours counting burning off a new seasoning application. The propane tank probably needs filling. Going to be a few days just to get it ready to go, and I still want time to hang with my old Vietnam buddy and give his girlfriend something to complain about. Not that she needs me to do that.

Maybe we will go to Reno and play slots. Last year while out there we did, and I turned a $100 into $1,100. :)

Not long now.

Air Suspension Controller werks.

Hitch on, wiring harness werks.

Almost packed. Going light, couple pair of compression pants and shirts (wash in sink, dry overnight), rain suit, heated gear, first aid kit, two tire repair kits (plugs and ropes), Airman air compressor, personal items including phone, laptop, tablet, chargers, vape stuff.

I am back from the east to Idaho to west to east part of the trip.

Sunday I leave for SC, then NC, then GA, then MO, then AR, then SC, then FL, then who knows.

In 2017 I will be going from east to Idaho again, then to CA to visit my Vietnam buddy again. Then I have to fast camp (into forest at dusk, tent cot out, out of forest before sunrise) in order to get to COG National in MO.

After that, not sure but Sturgis in August for sure.
