Hot Bodies-Wind Screens
05/19/09 8:24 PM

I just received Two Hot Bodies Wind screens. One for a Zx-14 and the other for ZX6R. Never Never Never Never Never Never Never will I buy from them again. From what I can tell, it looks like they did not realize we have to use wellnuts to install the screens. The edge is 1/8 out in size compared to OEM and I have 1/4 gaps on the zx-14 Screen and right now I am so MAD that I can't even look at the one for sixer. It looks good from afar but up close it's far from good. If this thing whistles in the wind I will shove a screwdriver threw it. Sorry but I feel better. Thanks for hearing me out. When I stop shaking I will take pics

Yep. I think everything Hotbodies needs tweaking to fit.

Roman,
I feel your pain, I bought the chrome Sportech and it has the same flat design, very poor fit, looks good at distance but gapped up close.

I also have a zero gravty S/T screen and it is made with the same fit as the oem screen. I am currently looking for a new screeen but this time i want to make sure of the fit. I can't afford another $80 screwdriver holder

Does anyone have any suggestions on wind screens with good fit and finish???

zero gravity s/t = great fit and finish

sportech opaque chrome = SUX/ good finish, but very poor fit

The issues with fitment are mainly due to the mounting holes on the
tabs being off. Mock fit the screen without any hardware and measure
alignment, if it's good- mark through the holes the correct mounting points
with a marker, remove the screen and drill the proper holes.

I saw the thread in wich Dogo had his screen distorting the fairing.
Just trying to tighten it up more is the wrong way to attempt to fix
the issue IMHO.

I redrilled my screen tabs and it was all good with ZERO bends and curves in
the fairing. Some of the holes were completely off.

The problem w/the sportech wasn't the holes. The holes lined up perfectly masszx, the problem is the way the screen is molded, the oem and the zero gravity are formed with a step about 1/2in. from the edge, this step seals the area around the fairing. The sportech is formed like a flat piece of lexan and does not have this step. without the step the wellnuts are up against the fairing and a gap the thickness of the wellnut top is left between the fairing and the screen. Also the screen is setting below the fairing and not flush with it...

Is this the same problem you have with the hotbodies, Roman??

Yup, it sure is. Flush, that is the funny part. It is not even close . I installed the other one on the 6R tonight and one hole was off completely. I thought I could get it started, but nope, the well nut fell inside and is now lost in the abyss. F...ck back to the stealer. At least the wellnut did not go into the air box.

Maybe mine wasn't as bad- lined up good,
just redrilled the tabs.
Will take a few pics and post them here.

I saw a used zx14 at a dealer with a double bubble screen,
not sure what brand, but it was obvious that the fit wasn't
great... wasn't Hotbodies.

So, we can put a man on the moon, but we can't mold a piece of plastic.

Maybe they are made to work with them straws as spacers, permanently

Just kidding Romans, I would send them back, stating you are simply not satisfied.

I can make the one for the sixer fit with a little work but the one for the 14 will always look like crap up close. If I place the well nut just under the plastic not in the hole this helps but distorts the bike plastic. There is no way to fix the front two holes, the well nuts must be used because the speedo is in the way. After last night I have also found this is a great place for dead bugs. Rain should be fun.

So far what I have found out is that they do know of this issue and they do know there is at least a 1/8 Gap (more like 3/8). And I was also told this is why the price is so cheap. I just found up my receipt. I paid 71.20 times two plus 45.00 for shipping plus 29.65 Duty (is this cheap). I have just mailed the same photos to them. I'm told the manager will be shown the photos and decide from there. Any one have some tape ? Can I ask what you guys paid ?

I only paid $50 shipped. Seemed worth that price to me even knowing I'd have to f*ck with it and possibly never be happy with the fit. But their excuse of "we know about it, that's why it's cheap" is rediculous! They don't advertise the thing that way. I knew what to expect as I had already dealt with one of their undertails and read Mass' issue before I ordered mine. Unfortunately you didn't and others won't. I just wish someone else would make a low profile DB that fit. My Zero Gravity's fit like they came from the factory. I don't like the tall DB's on 14's though.

I paid $80 w/free shipping from Dennis Kirk, I bought it hte same time that I bought the zero gravity S/T, i installed the S/T and put the Sportech V-Flow chrome se ries on the shelf until about 3 weeks ago and that is when i realized how the fit sucked... I had kept it too long and removed the sticker that says" Do Not Remove, If removed NO RETURN" So now I have a $80 screwdriver holder.....
