2019 Updates!
08/15/18 2:48 AM

+30HP (really just means detuned less). NEW Airbox, ecu. new gauges, calipers, paint, etc etc.

The big question.... cost? I see the dang carbon edition is 32K msrp. And I thought these were pricey at 25K.... ouch. I still want one.

I do have one question. For those that have had a gen 2 14r and an H2 or H2 SX SE, how much more expensive is the insurance? I saw one guy say it was 3X what his 14r was to insure. I know rates are highly personal, but a % increase might give me something to go on.

Insurance is a Rip Off.
I moved from Smalltown KS to Denver in 1979 with a 1977 Trans AM. I had Farm Bureau Ins. My Premiums doubled. My Agent said when I hit 50 yrs old it would go down. What a pile of crap.
Even moving from Denver to Smalltown, AR my Premium on my pickup went up. I'm 67 yrs old without tickets or accidents in the last 32 yrs.
I had a permanent trailer hitch welded to the chassis so I could tow a tandem enclosed U-Haul with my Bike/stuff to Denver.
Do not carry Medical Coverage on your Bike.

I only carry Liability, uninsured, underinsured.

I sat one one the other day. Not as comfortable as the 14. I'm almost tempted sans the ball crunch. Then again, takes a lot more hp to get me on one of these.

C'mon hub.Just a mild seat reshape, you'd be good ta go!Maybe add a bit of foam...that's all.Mine is every bit as comfy as my 14r.Can ride her all day with zero comfort issues. And that new 2019...sweet man.At least see if you can ride one from someone.

Nah.They said I hadn't paid the reissue fee.Which I did last year.Oh well.No problem.I paid the fee,now test on the 30th.The way things are goin,I may not get to ride THIS year...that'll be 3.Well,I rode some in 2015...till around November. So we'll see.If the weather holds okay.Still have to take the motorcycle written and drive test though. They aren't gonna transfer my endorsement.Sa'll good.If I'm meant to ride(this)year,it'll happen.Maybe I can talk em into lettin me take the M/C written test the same day..can't take that until I get the driver's license first...which I'll have the 30th if I pass. The driving(m/c)test I can set up shortly after...no big deal.

All happens when it's time...that's how I take it these days. Can't do anything about the other stuff.Guess I'm learning how to let go of expectations!lol.I'm okay with it.Must be doing something right;)

I have not ridden a lot in the past three years either. Not at all this year. I will get a few rides before the snow flies though.

I'm a hundred and seventy miles closer to you now, Grn. You think that H2 needs someone to come out and give her a gentle ride?

DoubleD I would love to take your advice, but here in MI we get screwed with some of the highest rates in the country. Dam no fault laws.....

I do say that I'm quite lucky for what I do pay though. Ive heard of much worse. Being outside of wayne county (Detroit) helps, age helps, clean record and good credit helps (why that should even matter, don't get me started). anyway, I'm paying high $700's per year on my 2012 for full coverage. 200 comp, and 500 collision (broad form). with 100/300 limits of liability. It was more when I had an additional 100K of medical coverage (no health insurance last year).

Grn, is your H2 much more to insure than the 14r's you had before? before any issues that might have raised them, of course.

Well,I had a chance to ride an SE on Monday.
Unknowingly,it was set to 'medium' power. When opening her up(not all the way)she took right off nicely.Quick shifter worked well, but not as slick as my H2 QS.It has autoblip on her too, which worked well.No messing with throttle rpms. The steering is very quick...however,the cornering was a bit 'uncomfortable' in the sense it felt like it didn't want to lean in.Imean, not terrible for sure. But it takes more muscle than the 14 or my H2.Probably just need to get used to it(whoever buys one).It had plenty of pull and grunt in any gear and speed. It's smooth. No vibrations.Well put together. Not as solid as my H2,but good. Not a 14 either.I'd have to stay with my 14 rather than that new bike.It has several icons and such on the displays that(IMO)are fairly useless...I mean,NOBODY is gonna be watchin the lean angle OR the IMU chassis icon to watch how the weight's being shifted while braking or accelerating. But all those get recorded. So you can check your max lean and all later.Even though it's a TFT display,I'll take my 14 and H2 Displays over that. It(to me)just seems 'too commercial' like all the other new models coming out.I didn't like the emerald green either.Gold Blazoned for me...

Nice bike...not a replacement for mine though. It was comfortable, good wind protection. It'll easily eat up the miles in comfort. Both my bikes are just as comfortable though. No idea how it runs in 'full' mode. But she hauled azz in medium.A guy or gal wouldn't go wrong getting one. It's worth the money.

Also rode the new 900.No thanks. It's a nice bike. For someone who's never ridden a bigger beast.I like the styling(to look at).But once aboard,I didn't like the way it appeared in the seat.It felt pretty light.Transitioned well. But (too me) underpowered. All this stuff could be resolved with a flash and such I'm sure. But it'd be a really cool bike for someone wanting to upgrade to something a bit bigger.

So there it is...my Monday New Kawi Bike review(s).

Thanks for the info GRN. I'm still on the fence. Lots will also depend on if I try to keep my bike and get a second one, or just go new. Maybe I even scratch the fz09 itch for a fun little bike to thrash around locally.

regular H2 prices start coming down yet? ;)

If you want a 'touring' rig...the new H2SE is a good choice though.I could hardly ride it and put it through it's paces in a 20 minute ride. But it was definitely a good bike.No question about that.Very nice.Way better than anything else in it's class.Typical Kawasaki build.Bulletproof.Solid.

As for insurance?I don't have it on my bikes. Can't afford any extra spending right now.Don't need it here anyway legally.

I dialed out some of the 'factory' stiffness. What a difference in ride feel.Added another seat foam to the existing 'shaped' one.Amazing.Seems to actually handle 'better' than all stiffened up.Who woulda thought?...
