What bag is best?
05/03/10 3:16 PM

I have been looking around at different bags to find out which is best for my 14. I do not want to go as far as the hard bags or saddle bags just yet. I have a tank bag I use a good bit of the time but need something to carry enough or a weekend trip. Most of the backpacks seems a little small for an extra pair of shoes and clothes for any more than an overnight trip. Also, when riding, a backpack seems to start hurting my back after wearing it with anything more than a change of clothes in it.

Does anyone have any suggestions about what backpacks are best for 2 or 3 day trips? Also, has anyone had any experience with a tail bag that can just be strapped to the rear of the bike? Thanks in advance for your responses.

I have the Axio Hardpack Tailbag and I think it fits really well on the bike. I also have the Ogio "Stealth" saddlebags and they seem like they were built for the ZX14.I don't have a picture with the saddle bags on yet.

I've used RKA soft bags for years. They are very well made, simple to install and remove, and come in many sizes.

The side bags come in two sizes, I'd recommend the larger size though the smaller might do.

I use this tail bag, huge storage for weekend trips, can everything you need.... Rapid transit also has some smaller tail bags as well.... they also have backpacks, soft saddlebags, and tank bags.... fairly reasonably priced as well...

Fuzz, that thing holds 70L? Wow, that is a big bag. I just ordered a Nelson-Rigg CL-200. It seems to hold about 30L and can be expanded to hold 39L or so. I think that's enough for a weekend trip. It looks a little tall but I think it should be fine. Here's a pic of one from the web site:

I checked out that Nelson Rigg bag as well, that should be good for a weekend.... Ya the one I bought is huge, when it expands, but I bought it so I could bring all my rain gear and wet weather stuff and still have room for a few changes of clothes and toiletries... I didn't want to wait for the shipping of anything else and the bike shop had lots of the rapid Transit stuff not bad stuff... Too bad the weather is like friggin December up here right now was like +24C less than 2weeks ago and now its -3C with snow...

I use Cortech bags on both my 14 and FZ1. Very happy with them.

Great thread idea, I've just started thinking about picking up a tailbag. I have been using a tankbag and love having it but with the warmer weather finally here I am really noticing it is killing the airflow to my lower torso etc...

A tankbag would do the trick, and I just picked up a C14 seat so I have the perfect spot for it. I like the look of that Axio bag hydrovac1, very slick. Did it come with those pads that go up against your ass? Do you have it mounted on the stock seat or what?

I have this Ogio backpack and love it. I have to carry a laptop with me most everywhere I go, so this thing was perfect for the daily commute to work. Pair of dress shoes, pants, and my laptop with a little room to spare. People compliment the backpack everywhere I go and I am very happy with the quality. 30 year warranty!

I'm going to check out what they have in the tailbag / sidebags for sure.

**EDIT - They have a matching tail/side bag set for $180... looks pretty nice.

hydrovac1 - I assume those are the bags, they are the only Ogio sidebag I found... pic's!!!
